PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
THIS MONTHS PROGRAM
Annual Awards Luncheon
and
Election of Officers
We will be holding our annual election of officers and awards luncheon on
May 18th, so bring your favorite dish. Beverages and paper products will be
provided by the society. At this final meeting of the year, the annual awards
for exhibitors on our show table will be given and we will raffle a set of orchid
earrings and pin.
There will be a show table. Points awarded this month will count towards next
years awards.
If you have checked out any library books, we ask that you please return them
at this meeting.
Come and have fun and enjoy a nice lunch!

Greetings Everyone
Can you believe that the 2013-14 Season is just about over.
We have enjoyed some terrific speakers and some beautiful Show ta-
bles. We had a successful Orchid Auction in November and not only partici-
pated in the SEPOS International Orchid Show at the Academy of Natural
Sciences in April, we took first place in the 25 sq. ft. division and 18 of our
plants were awarded. John Rogan even received an additiional award for the
fragrance of one of his orchids.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you to everyone who has contrib-
uted to the success of the South Jersey Orchid Society.
Sunday, 5-19, will be our last meeting of the season. It will be the cov-
ered dish luncheon. We will have our Show Table and the points for the May
Show Table will count for the 2014-2015 season. The Show Table Awards
for 2013-2014 will be given out. We will also have the election of officers
for next year.
That is it for Today (I am probably forgetting something) Hope to see
you Sunday.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
The date for the next Board of Trustees meeting has not been set. It will likely occur during August, prior
to the next regular meeting in September. If you are interested in attending, contact any of the board members or
officers to determine the date, time and location.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

The nominating committee will present its slate of nominations for treasure, secretary and trustee, and the
election will take place at the May meeting. The current slate is Trustee - Akiko Day, Secretary - Bob Davis,
Treasurer - Wayne Bailey. Since Bob Davis is a current trustee and the secretary is also a member of the board of
trustees, Mike Jacobs has agreed to run for Bobs unexpired term.

MEMBERSHIP DUES
The South Jersey Orchid Society operates on a September to August year. Membership dues may be paid
by mail using the form on the last page of this newsletter, or they can be paid in person at the meeting.
SCHEDULE NOTES
May Meeting
The May meeting will be the annual awards luncheon
and election of officers. There will also be a raffle of
an orchid pin and earring set. Advance raffle tickets
will be available at the April meeting.

SHOW TABLE REMINDER:
Show table judging begins at 1:00 PM. To have your plants recognized for judging they must be on the
Show Table, with the entry cards by 1 PM. Skip Vandegraft, our photographer, suggests that attention to
placement of supports, clips, etc. has multiple benefits, including enhancing the appearance of your plants,
increasing the chances of being awarded, and also reduces the need for retouching by the photographer.

MEMBERS MINUTE
The Board of Trustees, at the February meeting, agreed to set aside time following the monthly
business meeting for a Members Minute. This will be a time when members can ask for advice about any
problems they are having with an orchid. We encourage you to bring any plant that you have problems with,
or questions about, to the meeting.
We do prefer that you contact the president [Diane Haaf, (856) 629-5610, phals@comcast.net] prior to
the meeting so that we know what to expect..

John is again hosting a tour of his greenhouse. If you missed the last tour (or even if you didnt)
