The life cycle of a rock

about bout
Hi, my name is bout. I was born in earth sierra,
california. area at about 50,473 years ago.
1st part of Adventure
I began my adventure at pegmatite as an Igneous rock.
Because of very large crystals I formed below the
earth's surface and I am described as intrusive. I have
a very colorful personality. I contain many minerals
with multiple colors. Some of those colors are pink,
white, grey, and black.
2nd part of Adventure
The first thing that happened; I was traveling through a fast
moving stream where I started breaking apart. While
traveling through the stream I went through the process of
weathering and erosion. This is where I became smaller
pieces of rock called sediment.
3rd part of Adventure
My sediment particles continued to erode away
until they became very small and fine. They
were so small they were classified as silt.
4th part of Adventure
The next things that happened was the flow of the stream
started to slow down and my sediment particles slowly fell
to the bottom of the stream. My sediment particles created
lots of layers through the process of deposition. I laid here
for few years while many layers continued to fall on top of
me.
5th part of Adventure
The process, compaction, happened while I
was here. All of the water between my particles
was squeezed out through the pressure of the
upper layers. I then became a fine grained
clastic Sedimentary rock called siltstone.
6th part of Adventure
The next thing that happened was I got buried very deep in
the earth. Over time layers of earth continued to build on
top of me creating a lot of heat and pressure. When heat
and pressure was added to my siltstone composition I
changed into a completely new rock called gneiss. Gneiss
is a type of Metamorphic rock. I have very fine bands that
are difficult to see with the naked eye.
7th part of Adventure
Over time I got bored just laying around. I found myself
traveling further into the earth where the heat continued to
increase with depth. I finally reached a depth where the
individual mineral crystals started melting. As I melted I
became a type of liquid rock underneath the earth's surface
called magma.
8th part of Adventure
I found myself moving through the mantle, I was able to
move through the process of convection. I made my way to
an area called the San Francisco Volcanic Field in Arizona.
There I became a part of a cinder cone volcano. The
volcano started to erupt and I was ejected with enormous
amount of gas.
9th part of Adventure
Once I was ejected from the volcano I cooled very quickly.
Some of the gasses trapped inside of me as cooled, these
are called vesicles. I cooled so quickly I did not have time
to form any medium or large grained crystals. The process
form any medium or large grained crystallization. The
process of takes a long time. exploding from the volcano
made me an extrusive rock. Some people confuse me with
pumice but I am much darker and heavier than pumice.
