Analytical Method FLC determined using a formula based on statistical analysis

Stuart Keeler and William Brazier 1 have developed the following formula for FLC generation based
on the statistical data collected for deep drawing quality (DQ) steels:
if ( e2 0 ) {

e1 = FLD0 + e2 (0.784854 0.008565* e2)

(1)

}else{

e1 = FLD0 + e2 (0.027254* e2 1.1965)

},

n
(23.25 + 356.1* C1)
0.2116

(2)

if (t0 0.0118){C1 = t0 } else {C1 = 0.0118}

(3)

FLD 0 =

where, t0 , is the thickness of the undeformed sheet in inches, n is the strain hardening exponent and e1and e2
are points on the FLC expressed as percent engineering strains.

The formulae were developed by S. Keeler from National Steel and W. Brazier from Ford Motor Company
as the result of unpublished research project. These formulae were made available through the North
American Deep Drawing Research Group (NADDRG).
