Obesity
If you have a way to prevent it, why not do it? Obesity is a medical condition in which
excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have a negative effect in your health,
leading to reduce life expectancy. Obesity is a natural consequence of human evolution; it can
also lead to other illnesses, and due to poor eating habits. Obesity is a fast-growing epidemic
among young adults due to several factors.
Your body mass index is very important. And your weight size is also important; it is the
measure of your abdominal fat. The goal of treatment for obesity is weight loss. Exercise is an
essential part of any weight-loss program and should become a permanent part of your lifestyle.
Having a healthy exercising behavior has many benefits like, maintaining muscle tone, burning
off calories, reducing your level of stress, improving your circulation, heart and lung function
and many other things.
The BMI is a statistical measurement derived from your weight and height. Using this
measurement is considered to estimate healthy body weight. BMI uses a simple calculation based
on the ratio of someones height and weight. Decades of research have shown that BMI provides
a good estimate of fatness and also correlates well with important health outcomes like heart
disease, diabetes, cancer, and overall mortality

The body is composed of water, protein, minerals, and fat. A two-component model of
body composition divides the body into a fat component and a fat-free component. Body fat is
the most variable constituent of the body. The essential fat of women is higher than that of men
because it includes sex-characteristic fat related to child-bearing.
Back in the pioneer days, people had to plant their crops, tend to their animals and cook
foods from scratch. Meals had to be planned ahead every day. Fast food meals were unheard of.
Coincidentally, the obesity rates were much less years ago. Now, you can find a fast food
restaurant every time you turn the corner. What these meals have is that they are cheap for
people to buy which appeals to the society (Aguilar Interview). These foods are highly
processed, full of fat, calories and sodium. You can easily take many calories from just one meal
alone.
Every morning its the same routine, having to get ready to go to work, or school. Its
always a rush and there isnt enough time to prepare breakfast and eat it completely. Lack of
time is another reason of why obesity is a common disease. Both genes and everyday life
environmental factors such as cultural and social mediated food intake and reduced domestic and
living work activities are involved in the obesity pandemic. This problem has rapidly found a
solution, now days there are fast-food restaurants in every corner. Because the sizes of food
portions, especially of fast food, have increased in parallel with rising rates of overweight, health
authorities have called on fast-food chains to decrease the sizes of menu items. The voluntary

efforts by fast-food companies to reduce portion sizes are unlikely to be effective, and that policy
approaches are needed to reduce energy intake from fast food

What would you call the worst nightmare for kids? Having to eat their vegetables.
Establishing intake of vegetables early in life facilitates later healthy eating may reduce risk of
obesity. The role of parental behavior is an important concept in the development of food
preferences. Parent style of nutrition is a critical factor in a childs life. Restricting access to
particular foods increases rather than decreases preference. Forcing a child to eat a food will
decrease the liking for that food. Educational strategies have been involved to impart basic
nutritional information; to induce changes in behavior, and to teach parents about child
development to lead to a healthy food preference in your family

Obesity can also lead to other illnesses. There is a growing body of evidence to support a
connection between diabetes, obesity and cancer. In addition, a number of common risk factors,
including obesity, may be behind the association between diabetes and cancer. Abdominal
adiposity has been shown to play a role in creating a systematic pro-inflammatory environment,
which could result in development of both diabetes and cancer

In the past 30 years the prevalence of obesity and overweight has doubled. Obesity is a
cardiovascular risk factor and some studies suggest that up to 70% of cases of essential
hypertension may be attributable, in part, to obesity. By understanding which factors are most
associated with the development of obesity and hypertension in the offspring, we can focus

therapeutic and behavioral interventions to most effectively reduce the intergenerational
propagation of the obesity cycle

Obesity is due to many factors that can slowly become a big issue in a persons life.
Obesity may sound like its not a big deal, but if you really focused on this topic and began a
deeply research youd realize that this small word has so many consequences and very risky side
illnesses. Obesity is a natural consequence of human evolution; it can also lead to other diseases,
and is due to poor eating habits. Obesity is a fast-growing epidemic among young adults due to
several factors

Obesity is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, and increased risk of
recurrence in women who develop breast cancer. Evidence suggests that the risk of breast cancer
is increased in obese postmenopausal women. Nonetheless, the presence of obesity at diagnosis,
and possibly weight gain after diagnosis, may independently contribute to an individuals risk of
recurrence of both pre- and postmenopausal breast cancer.
