CHINAS ONE CHILD POLICY
In both, the governments are trying to create a perfect society.
The Giver
In China
In rural areas, families are allowed
to have a second child if one is a
girl.
Now, couples in which one parent is
an only child can be able to be
permitted to have a second child.
Before, urban couples could only
have a second child if both parents
were single children.
Twins are the exception to the policy.
The policy is because of
governments Family Plan which tries
to control the population in order to
balance save the countrys resources.
In china the elderly depend on the
young to take care of them.
If you have more than two kids you
get fined.

In The Giver
The parents can only have two kids-
one girl and on boy.
If identical twins are born, one of
them has to be released.
It is written in the rules to make
everything perfect and satisfactory.
The old rely on the children to get
jobs to take care of them.

Statistics
2003-2005 abortion
statistics
Some people might get forced
have an abortion or choose it
because of the traditional
preference for boys.
This causes an imbalance
of female to male in china
and many men will not be
able to marry.
