Scottsboro

By Langston Hughes
1. Why does Hughes suggest the world should turn pale?
The author suggests this due to the fact that a lot of prejudice and
injustice was involved during this case and people acted as if this was
normal, considering the fact to be completely wrong and bad.
Therefore the world should turn pale in terms of embarrassment for
accusing 9 black boys in a false and injustice trial, they should hence
feel ashamed of themselves.

poem (research this if necessary)?

3. What is Hughes suggesting about the 13 Black Boys by associating
them with these specific people who he names in the poem?
The 13 black boys could be related with the names before as they
were revolutionaries and Hughes therefore wants to represent that
the 13 Black Boys were freedom revolutionaries who were brave
enough to speak their minds out.
4. What do you think is Hughes position and perspective on race
relation
Hughes shows the fact that he is very respectful and open minded
with respecting white and black people, he therefore is very fair and
injustice and inequality upsets him as all people are equal.
