CHAIRMAN REPORT: 2014

AGM Meeting: 26 July 2014 at Seeskulpie Pre-School, Longacres, Langebaan

I wish to report on behalf of the Longacres Estate Homeowners Association:

1. Notice of Meetings
Notices for the 2014 AGM Meeting have been sent to all registered Home Owners by 26
May 2014.
Matters acted on by the Committee
a. Plans and Buildings
The Committee approved an increased number of plans in the past year with the
help of Rodney Steinhofel. I wish to thank Rodney for his continued dedication
and prompt service provided to the LHOA.
New Building Rules are implemented, and an outside consultant has been
employed (Propex Property Services : Mr. Heinie Truter) to do site visits and
inspections on erven being developed, and to ensure that all building rules and
guidelines are being adhered to.
b. Cleaning of road verges
I wish to thank Council for their work and effort in keeping Longacres Estate
clean, road-verges neat and general maintenance done on our roads in and
around Longacres Estate.
Epson and Summerveld Roads in Longacres Country Estates are still dirt roads. It
still remains a goal of the Committee to engage Council in upgrading and tarring
these roads. The Committee has sent new requests for the tarring of these two
roads in 2014, and is awaiting approval from Council.
We are currently busy with a clean-up operation which includes collection of
rubble and foreign objects along the road verges.
c. Installation of road signs
Road signs have been installed in Summerveldt and in Epson streets for speed-
control. We are aiming to have the speed-bumps installed together with the
upgrading of the two dirt roads to tar roads.

Security
Security remains a concern within Longacres Country Estate. We have had great
success in reducing the crime rate, and wish to thank Team Langebaan and the
SAPS in their crime-prevention efforts.
Special thanks go out to Kiewiet (Lourens) in driving the Neighbourhood Watch
and in ensuring that Longacres is patrolled regularly.
Thank you to all the residents that are actively involved in the Neighbourhood
Watch. I urge all homeowners to come forward and assist in patrolling our
smallholdings.
From the Committees side we have held numerous meetings with the SAPS and
Team Langebaan in order to discuss and implement safety measures.
Team Langebaan installed two controlled access points at our entrances of
Longacres, which is to be used in emergency situations when necessary. During
December 2013 and January 2014 the access points were guarded and managed
by the Homeowners Association and Team Langebaan. We can now boast that
these measures were met with great success, and no criminal incidences were
reported over this period.
General
I wish to urge residents and homeowners in Longacres to ensure that their pets (dogs
and horses) are continually kept secure and on their properties. We have had numerous
incidents where dogs have attacked pedestrians and sheep, as well as our wild game on
our conservancy areas. All such known incidents have been reported to law
enforcement.
The horse trails on the green belt and entrances to the green belt as well as signage
have been installed. The Homeowners Committee has decided to form a sub-committee
called the Equestrian Committee which will help manage and develop the green belt.
The Equestrian Committees aim is to promote our equestrian estate and to arrange
events, shows and out-rides throughout the year, which would involve all interested
parties.
We are proud to announce the further development of Long Acres Private School (an
affiliation of Seeskulpie Educational Development Centre). Long Acres Private School has
now introduced Equine as a subject. The classes are offered by Lipizza Stud Equestrian
Club (www. lipizzastudequestrianclub.com).

We are planning new fire-breaks for 2014 around the development to keep properties
safe.
Once again, I wish to thank all of the Committee Members and Homeowners for their
dedication and hard work throughout 2014. I wish to urge Homeowners to make
themselves available to join and assist the Committee in striving towards our vision of a
Country Estate and to uphold our rules and constitution.
I urge all Homeowners to attend the 2014 Annual General Meeting.
Yours sincerely,
Aubrey Fourie
Chairman LHOA
