Order of Operation

Oder of Operation exists so that everyone will end up with the same answer for the same
expression. If there were no order of operations, everyone will get many different answers for the
same expression. Order of Operation is to make sure that everyone does the same steps in the
same order and gets that same answer. The Order of Operations is parentheses, exponents,
multiplication or division, and addition or subtraction. If multiplication and division appears at
the same time, you will need to do the one that is the first (appears in the left). Also, for addition
and subtraction you will need to do the one that appears first if it has both addition and
subtraction.
Examples: (5x5) 10/2 5-10x5+2
25 -10/2 -5x7=-35
625-5=620

When you see parentheses ( ), brackets [ ] and absolute value, you will do it first.

Commutative Properties of Addition/Multiplication
Commutative Properties of Addition/Multiplication is when the order doesnt matter to get
to the correct answer. Only addition and multiplication work because for subtracting and division,
if you didnt put the order correctly, the answer will be totally different.
Examples: 5+2=7 5x2=10 2-5=-3 10/5=2
2+5=7 2x5=10 5-2=3 2/10=0.5

Distributive Properties of Multiplication over Addition and Subtraction
This is when there are 2 numbers that you are multiplying together, you can use expanded
form and factored form, either way will ended up with the same answer.

Reflection
A few days ago in class I was playing a game called Dealing Down with my partner. Its a
fun game. The game helped you with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing because you
need to us any way that you can make the cards you dealt turn into the least quantity. You can
use the Order of Operations, Commutative Properties of Addition and Multiplication, it all helps
you to get your answer easier and helps you think of more ways to get to turn the answer to the
least quantity. Also, in Dealing Down you can use the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying
and dividing positive and negative numbers. So, overall Dealing Down is a fun game to play.

Conclusion
Overall this game Dealing Down is something that you can practice with your friends and
its a game that can refresh your mind. I said that because you need to think hard to beat your
partner and you need to get the least quantity. In your head you need to think of the answer and
also what kind of operation you should use and how you sorted them in different places (order)
to make the lowest answer. Dealing Down is a game for you to think of math and all different kind
of equation.
Hope that you will try and play Dealing Down!
