Who is Pythagoras?
Pythagoras was one of the
greatest mathematics. Pythagorus if often
referred to as the rst pure mathematic.
This is because Pythagoras created the
Pythagorean theorem. He also created a
school after he returned from prison in
Babylonia. In the school he shared his
knowledge with his students. Pythagoras
believed that math is the basic for
everything and geometry is the highest
form of mathematical studies. When
Pythagoras died he was best know for
creating the Pythagorean theorem which
is still used today.
What is the Pythagorean
Theorem?
The pythagorean theorem is a
way to nd the hypotenuse (the
longest side of a triangle and also not
touching the right triangle) of a right
triangle. To get the length of a
hypotenuse you square the other
lengths and then add them together
then to get a number and that will
equal the hypotenuse. For example
a=15 b=20 and the hypotenuse is x.
you rst square 15 and 20 so 225 and
400. Now you add them together and
get 625 and now divide to get the
square root which in this case would
be 25. So a=15 b=20 and c=25!
