Standard 1 Communication Students will utilize the Spanish language to further
their understanding of Spanish in a variety of written and spoken forms on diverse
topics. 1-1 Students express feelings and emotions and exchange opinions through conversation. (CE, CM, LS) 1-2 Students understand and discuss a variety of topics through spoken and written language. (CE, CM, LS) 1-3 Student present oral and written information on a variety of topics. (CE, CM, GE, LS, T) *Students will operate within benchmarks 1-1 to 1-3 in the following areas activities in the past! present and simple future! past actions ongoing "imperfect# and completed "preterite#! excuses! repeating conversations and $uotes! entertainment vocabulary! directions! bargaining! telling stories! reacting to news! problems and how to deal with them. Standard 2 Cultures Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. 2-1 Students demonstrate understanding of %ispanic culture. (CM, GE, LS) 2-2 Students demonstrate understanding of relationship between products and perspective of %ispanic cultures. (CM, GE, HOTS, LS, MCGF) & Students will operate within benchmarks 2-1 to 2-2 in the following areas "'ulture focus pending textbook adoption.# Standard 3 Connections Students will connect and acquire information with other subject areas. 3-1 Students will further their knowledge of other disciplines through Spanish. (HOTS, LS) 3-2 Students ac$uire information and recogni(e the distinctive viewpoints of the Spanish language and cultures. (CM, GE, HOTS, LS, MCGF) & Students will operate within benchmarks 3-1 to 3-2 by discussing both the history and geography of the cultures mentioned in Standard 2! as well as discussing grammatical parallels with the )nglish language. Standard 4 Comparisons Students will develop insight into the nature of language and culture. *-1 Students demonstrate understanding of language through comparisons between )nglish and the target language. (CM, GE, HOTS, LS) *-2 Students demonstrate understanding of cultural concepts through comparisons between %ispanic cultures and their own. Standard 5 Communities Participate in communities at home and around the world. 5-1 Students use Spanish within and beyond the school setting. (CE, CM, GE, MCGF, T) 5-2 Students show evidence of becoming life-long learners by using Spanish for personal enjoyment outside of mandated classroom activity. (CE, CM, GE, HOTS, LS, MCGF, T, SCUBA) *Students will operate within benchmarks 5-1 and 5-2 in the following ways: continue to develop conscientiousness of the Hispanic culture around them through independent observations and interactions outside of school, seek out individual opportunities to practice new skills within the native-speaking community.
