My name is Diane and I was born in Durban South Africa and immigrated to New Zealand in
!!! with my two daughters "ylie #now $% and &essica #now '(%) *oth my daughters are
now +arly ,hildhood +ducators and I am -ery proud of them)
.hilst we were li-ing in New Zealand/ in !! I had another child/ a son/ 0aul/ who is now
' years old) At the age of ' year1s he was diagnosed with 2lobal De-elopmental Delay
AND so began our SPECIAL NEEDS JOURNEY!
.e decided to immigrate to *risbane/ Australia in !!3 due to family circumstances) .e
chose to li-e in Aspley/ North *risbane/ so that 0aul could attend Geebung Speial S!""l/
in 2eebung) After our arri-al in Australia 0aul was diagnosed with Autism/ +pilepsy/
Intellectual Impairment/ ,lub4oot and is also non -erbal)
As his mother and primary ,arer/ I ha-e become -ery 0ASSI5NA6+ about impro-ing the
7uality of life for all children 8 not 9ust our Special Needs ,hildren) I thoroughly en9oy
working with my :;ittle 0eople< so I decided to study)
I completed my ,ertificate III in +arly ,hildhood and Diploma of ,hildren1s Ser-ices at *NI6
*rackenridge and ha-e completed a course in Disability Ser-ices and ha-e ongoing
0rofessional De-elopment within the +ducation Department in the Special Needs area)
I ha-e worked as an In =ome Assist for Ce#eb#al Pal$% League here in *risbane with
beautiful young sisters with multiple Special Needs/ as well as an Instructor for Funta$ti
C#eati"n$ presenting a fun de-elopmental program within +arly ,hildhood ,entres) I also
do casual work as a 6eacher Aide in the Special +ducation 0rogram at a &unior school on
the North Side of *risbane and absolutely LO&E my time I get to spend with my children)
*ecause I lo-e my work so much I ha-e decided to start my own business/ Speial Angel$
C!il'(in'ing/ where I can offer my ser-ices to *abysit>,hild mind your precious Angels in
the comfort of your home)
