FIVE WONDERS OF THE WORLD



Choice # 1: The Great Wall of China.



Description: The Great Wall of China was established decades ago at the northern borders of China to protect the empire
from intrusions by nomadic people. Its building was started in 7
th
century B.C in portions and later these parts were
connected with each portion. The wall became identically great wall in the era of Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang around 206
BC. It is 21,196.18 kilometers in length including its main Ming walls measure 8,850 km. The width of the great wall varies
from 4, 6 to 9, 1 meters 515 to 30 feet) at the base and from 2.7 to 3.7 meters (from 9 to 12 feet) at the top. Watchtowers
rise above the wall at certain points. Its China most famous tourist attraction and its also the world's longest human-made
structure.
It is a great example of humans craftsmanship, and I selected the Great Wall of China as my first choice because I am
really surprised by this massive work of human beings without the help of machinery and equipments thousand years ago.
Choice #2: Taj Mehal.


Description: The Taj Mehal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India portraying a love story. It was
constructed by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in remembrance and memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj
Mahal is also acknowledged as "the jewel of Muslim art in India. The white domed marble mausoleum is the most well-known
and common component of the Taj Mahal. Its essentially an integrated complex of structures. Its manufacturing began
around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen.
I selected Taj Mehal as my second choice because its one of the most beautiful structures in the world,

Choice #3: The great pyramid of Giza.

Description: The Mesopotamia is counted among few ancient civilizations of the world, and the Great Pyramid of Giza is an
identical part of world heritage. It is also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops, and the oldest and
biggest of three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World. The pyramid is likely to have around 2,300,000 stone blocks that weight from 2 to 30 tons
each and there are even some blocks that weigh over 50 tons.
I selected the great pyramid of Giza as my third choice because its been known as the planet's tallest human-made
constitution for more than four millennia.

Choice #4: The Colosseum.

Description: The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre was located in Regio IV Templum Pacis also known as
"Temple of Peace." It was built in 70-80. It was built by/for Vespasian, Titus. It had a total spectator capacity of 45,000-
55,000. It is built of travertine outside, and of tufa and brick in the interior. Its thought as one of the greatest art
of Roman structural design and manufacturing. The Colosseum is located in east of the Roman Forum.
I chose the Colosseum as my fourth choice because of the fascinating fact that its the largest amphitheatre in the world.
Choice#5: The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.

Description: The Maulosoleum of Halicarnassus was a tomb built between 353 and 350 BC at Halicarnassus. It was built
for Mausoleum, a king, and also for Artemisia II of Caria, (his wife and sister). The Mausoleum was about 45 m (148 ft) in
tallness, and the four corners were decorated with sculptural reliefs. The construction was designed by the Greek
architects Satyros and Pythius of Priene. The completed formation of the mausoleum was measured to be such an artistic
achievement that Antipater of Sidon acknowledged it as one of his Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
I chose the Maulesoleum of Halicarnassus as my fifth choice because I love its architectural beauty.
