Writing
1. Write for a variety of purposes (poetry, movie review).
2. Produce coherent writing through development, organization, and style appropriate to the task.
3. Use the writing process to strengthen my writing.
4. Evaluate and synthesize information from multiple sources and incorporate information into
my writing.
5. Conduct brief, controlled research for a paper.

Language
1. Understand and use grade appropriate vocabulary.
2. Write in complete, meaningful sentences and paragraphs (complex sentences).
3. Use consistent point of view and verb tense.
4. Apply correct usage of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation (subject-verb
agreement, prepositional phrases, commas after clauses, verb tenses).
