Tragedy of the commons: An annotated bibliography.
World Resources Institute. Wri.org. Bermuda. Web. November 15 2011. World Resources Institute.
Coral reefs are being affected by over fishing. There has not being any control over fisherman
fishing incorrectly. Approximately severe overfishing between the 1960s and 1990s was
observed when the proportion of herbivorous reef fish in the catch increased from less than 1
percent to 31 percent.
This article is very factual. It is unbiased witch I think is very important for the credibility of an
article. The article uses facts to support the articles claim. It is objective. The author explains his
point of view very well, and confident witch makes it more convincing.
This article is specific about its topic. Its reliable because of the facts that support the claim of
the article. This article also supports my claim. It was written with knowledge and facts witch
gives me confidence in believing the article. The article is really helpful to my claim and my
topic.

community in the D.R. Web. November 15, 2011. FAO Corporate Document Repository.
When in villages there is no potable water, fishes turn into water. Fisherman have to sell fish in
order to buy some potable water. Fisherman become desperate to catch the greater quantity of
fish they in order to survive. When they are only thinking about what today is going to happen
they dont think about the future. When big changes occur in the climate in this village this
people must adjust in order to survive.
This article is factual but not as much. It talks mostly about what fisherman have to live. The point of
view of this article makes you see

environment.
Experts suggest that 10 % of the corals of the Earth have been destroyed and that another 60%
are in danger. Fisherman that synamite and inject cyanide poison into reefs are some of the main
causes of the damages to the coral reefs. Coral reefs provide food and living to many people
including the Dominican Republic. This source is really helpful to my topic because it says how
fisherman affect the coral reefs wich are a common that we all need. It is realiable and its factual.
This a little biased because is focusing more about how fisherman are a big cause of coral reef
damage. This source connects to my topic. I think that this source is not scholarly enough though.

Coastal capital: Economic Valuation of Coral Reefs in the Dominican Republic.wri.org. Web.

Fish populations have been overexploited, and unless steps are taken to protect remaining stocks,
fisheries will continue to decline. For local fishermen, gross income from reef-dependent
fisheries has decreased by nearly 60 percent over the past decade. The protection of coral reefs
and mangroves is vital to the welfare of the fishing communities that depend on these resources
for their livelihoods. This article is very factual. Its a very realiable source, and is a current one.
The author is Ruben Torres. He is very quialified in the subject because he is a marine biologist
and has worked with coral reefs for a long time. This soources is a very helpful source. Its
specific and to the point. I likes this spurce a lot beacuse it connects a lot to my topic, and too
makes it a very helpful source.

Angel Luis. A common problem. Environmental Consultant. Interview. November 16, 2011.
People come from different places illegally to fish in the Dominican republic illegally. A mayor
problem is that they dont use good nets to fish. Fish are decreasing. Some fisherman sell fish to
the aquariuma, everytime they have to go further in the the ocean, and every time they brin less
fish with them.He is a very reliable source beacuse he is also a marine biologist. He knows a lot
about the topic and has worked with fish and companies taking care of the corals for a long time.
He and other guy discovered the presence of lion fish in the island. My topic is overfishing. When
today I saw people using poor fishing practices it helped me realize how bad overfishing is. If
fisherman dont change their bad practrices we can ran put of fish.

Franciso Taverez. Overfishing. Sirector of Parque Nacional. November 16, 2011.
A lot of hatians cross the border risking their lifes to fish in the dominican waters. A lot of the
fish is decreasing. When there is mora about a certain fish instead of the fisherman stop fishing
they fish even more because the fish becomes more expensive. This is reliable because the
speaker is reliable. He is experienced in the topic. He is the director del Parque Nacional. This
relates to my topic because I want to focus more in the causes of overfishing, why are fisherman
fishing deperately. He says that fisherman fish desperately because they are thinking about their
family being hungry, and so they dont think about the future.
