Fabulous Forty Options for Digital Storytelling

**From spoken text to photos to videos to longer messages, if you have
something to say, here are some options:
1. Viddy app---create short videos. Vine is also an app option for short videos.
2. Stitch by KlabLab (iphone app)--create cool images, text, and add your own audio
3. Splice---video editor
4. iMovie--similar to the desktop version; app is $5.00
5. Puppet Pals 2 --animate an array of characters, settings, etc., add your voice and choose
from pre-selected music. This app is $5.00, but try the lite version first. If you really like it,
buy the full version.
6. Tellagami---an app that functions similar to Voki; talking avatars.
7. Video Star--make cool videos, some free effects, some purchase effects. When the app
comes up, click on the heart button at the top to view a great video made by an adolescent.
I could see this being used as a staff community building tool, a reward for kids; even use it
to set your curriculum in motion!
8. Skqueak---share your knowledge with the world. Create show and tell type picture-
videos to share among your private or public channels.
9. Videolicious---use your photos and videos in combination to make a movie.
10. Vintagio---create a vintage-looking movie. Choose from among supplied tracks and
effects.
11. SonicPics--make your pictures talk to tell a photostory. Lite version or paid; paid is
exportable.
12. PixnTell--free app. Make your pictures talk. Share on FB, Twitter, save to photo roll,
etc.
13. Fotobabble--online and an app. Make your pictures talk, import to your website.
14. Comic Life, ComicBook---I have reviewed several apps that are comic makers. These
two have the most features and user-friendliness out of the 5 or so I have examined.
15. Draw & Tell HD--for elementary. Very cute app with many options.
16. Superhero HD--many options for stickers, animations, scenes, etc. with this cute app.

17. Sock Puppets--elementary storytelling.
18. My Story app---easily tell stories from your pictures. Add text, draw, add your voice.
Options for sharing: copy book link, open in iBooks, email book.
19. Mooklet--It's beetween Mooklet and My Story as to which I prefer for storytelling.
20. Flowboard...add content easily to tell a story.
21. Voki.com...create online avatar that is embeddable in your website
22. Croak.it...app & website, to "croak" things
23. pen.io---sign up for this & publish one simple webpage...use for homework! Teacher
must have!
24. memegenerator.net---free memes...has most of the popular ones
25. Storify---grab content from the web & social media to tell a story. This is a website &
app.
26. PhotoStory for Windows....PC only. Classic version of telling stories to your pics. Use
your own music. Free download.
27. Vocaroo---free online tool to speak & embed a message in your website.
28. Blabberize---make a picture talk... Online tool.
29. AutoMotivator--create posters using the recognizable format.
30. PicLits---use a picture & text to illustrate something.
31. Skitch--import a photo & illustrate with different fonts, arrows, etc. This is an app.
32. Kindoma app---reading a story together...cool app for families who are separated by
distance.
33. Kerpoof--online storytelling, many options, courtesy of Disney.
34. Nanoogo---sign up for this site. Protected site with stickers, you can find pics from
creative commons, kids can get badges, etc.
34. Dumpr---create a crazy pic to tell a story.
35. Flipboard---make a magazine of your articles, or your FB content.
36. BigHugeLabs---do fun stuff with photos to tell a story.
37. Posterini---online magazine cover creator.
38. Glossi---an app that makes magazines.
39. HaikuDeck--tell a slide-based story using Creative Commons pics (it pulls the
attribution). I like this app & website because you can embed your stories on your
websites.
40. Easel.ly---free sign up. Easiest infographic creator you can find. Still in beta. Is a
website only. Use Firefox and Safari browsers for the most trouble-free use.
