NOTES:
Being a Professional in Public Education
Presenter: Lanny Lancaster, AEA UniServ Director
Few would argue against the premise that those who work in our public schools make personal sacrifces. Being a
role-model for students requires not only professional accountability on the job but it comes with a standard that
must be maintained outside the work environment. Public education and the well-being of our students is not what
we do. It becomes who we are in and out of the school setting. With that charge comes the responsibility of being a
professional at all times. Eligible for professional development credit.
Using Positive Communication Strategy in Dealing with Difcult Students and Parents
Presenter: Charmelle Lewis, AEA UniServ Director
Everyone, at some point in time, will be faced in dealing with another who has a diferent point of view. Sometimes
it seems like we cant efectively communicate our message to another. Maybe there is a confict with a parent or
student or perhaps an uncomfortable situation with a colleague or supervisor? Being prepared to work with others
toward the same objective of improving student achievement should be everyones goal. To prepare you for handling
those delicate situations is the purpose of this session. Eligible for professional development credit.
