FREDERICK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA STEPS INTO THE LIGHT
Fourth Concert of 18
th
Season Overcomes Darkness

FREDERICK, MDThe Frederick Symphony Orchestras 18
th
season is in full-swing as they
prepare to debut their fourth concert of the season, From Darkness to Light, on Saturday,
March 7, 2015. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the J.B. Kussmaul Theater at
Frederick Community College.
The concert will feature guest conductor Glenn Quader, a native of the D.C. area.
Quader has served as Associate Conductor for the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and
Music Director of the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra since 2005. Under his leadership, the PSO
has increased its membership, added performances to their schedule, and continues to see
larger audiences and more season subscriptions. Quader holds a degree in conducting after
attending the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and universities of Indiana,
Illinois, and Miami. In addition to his performances both in the United States, and around the
world, Quader has also instituted educational programs in Fairfax County Public Schools and
workshops for metropolitan youth orchestras.

Music selections for the evening include Rimsky-Korsakov: Russian Easter Festival
Overture and Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67. The grand-prize winner of the
2015 Young Artist Competition will have the opportunity to perform with the Frederick
Symphony Orchestra during From Darkness to Light, therefore, the concerts soloist is TBA.
This years YAC is for advanced middle and high school-aged pianists. The annual contest is
designed to showcase and nurture the finest young musicians residing in the state of Maryland.
Tickets for the 2014-2015 concert season are on sale now. $20, adults; $15, seniors, and

Swashbucklers and Buccaneers Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.
