As I prepared dinner, I knew I had to have some chips from the day before. I knew that my family would appreciate some salsa for their chips, so I decided to make some salsa. I opened my fridge and grabbed my ingredients. I went to the counter and I pulled my blender out. I put all my ingredients in my blender, and I noticed that my blender had a lot of buttons to push to make different kinds of salsas. I pushed a button of my choices and my salsa came out perfect just the way I want it. I believe that a student is like a blender with many buttons to push. A blender can make many jobs with those buttons. A student has a lot of buttons to activate such as: a brain, heart, feelings, motivations, expectations, and dreams. Just as a blender, which is ready to perform a task, a student is waiting for someone to active those buttons. In this case, that someone is a teacher, who knows that it is essential to raise good citizen to fulfill today's society needs; just as I knew that my family would need salsa for their chips. The teachers have the freedom to choose their own teaching style to fulfill their students needs. The teacher may use all kinds of philosophies and theories to design their own way of teaching. These philosophies have had a great deal to say to educators. I saw that I had a variety of ingredients that I could use to make the best salsa. The same way teachers have a lot of philosophies and theories to make the best of every student. At school, teachers will be teaching students from all different backgrounds; therefore they may integrate different kinds of philosophies to fulfill the different needs. Idealism and realism would be used to teach students the reality to have an education to have good pay jobs. Perennialism and Essentialism would be used to teach students values and skills that will help them be successful in life. Philosophy 3
In my opinion all of the theories and philosophies are good influences to teaching. A teacher should not stick to only one, but use all of them to introduce their lessons to different students own learning style. Information processing and behaviorism are my two strong philosophies. I strongly believe that a student learns by observing and imitating others. Students are the makers of their own way of learning, and a teacher should use different techniques like pictures, symbols, processing, body language, and environment to deliver the right message. The students being the blender they are ready to receive an order or a message to perform an activity. When we push the right button in the blender we will obtain our milkshake, salsa, smoothie, sauce, and crushed ice. Once the right ingredient is in the blender and I push the right button then I can enjoy a delicious salsa. Once the teacher has put the right ingredients in the students heart, and pushes the right button, then the teacher can be proud of his/her work when he/she sees a doctors, nurses, dentists, lawyers, teacher, and scientists.
