Mrs. Anglens Expectations
It is important for you to know that I have high expectations of all of my students
in two areas: 1. Academics- I am not afraid to make you work hard for your
grades. You will need to have self-discipline and try your best in order to succeed
in my class. 2. Behavior- 1. Respect the property, space, and rights of other
students and the teacher. 2. Be in your seat when the bell rings or a tardy will be
given. 3. Come to class prepared to listen. Each student should bring to class:
pencil, paper, folder, outside reading book, and any assignments that are
being worked on or that are due. Students WILL NOT be allowed to go back
to their lockers to retrieve these items unless they want to take a tardy.
4. Listen during instruction. 5. NO cell phones in class or they will be placed in
my top drawer until the bell rings.
*Please see your Student Handbook for the building rules.

Class Participation: Education is a process that involves interaction with me, and
other students in the classroom. You will be expected to ask questions, answer
questions, and take part in class discussions. I will not give a grade of an A to
any student who refuses to participate/contribute in class discussions or doesnt
attempt to try their best while in my classroom. Laziness is not acceptable in
this class!!

Academic Dishonesty: Students who decide to cheat or help someone to cheat
will be given a 0 on that assignment, and further action will be taken with the
office to notify the parents of the offense. In other words, DO NOT CHEAT!
Note: Plagiarism is the act of INTENTIONALLY OR UNINTENTIONALLY using
someone elses work as your own.

Late Work/Make up Work-Absences: Assignments are due according to the
assigned due dates; which means that I want your work when it is due. You are
responsible for your own assignments. When you are not in class due to an
absence, you are still responsible to complete the assignments in a timely
manner, due dates will be given to you. If you do not pick up your assignments or
complete them in time, you will not receive credit for that particular assignment.

Attendance: Please be here! Not only do I want to see you in your seat everyday,
others want you here too! I realize excused absences happen, but if you are not
here and you miss instruction, you may miss something extremely important.
Methods of Assessment:
*End of Unit Exams
*Formal and Informal Writing (bell ringers, poetry, short stories, etc)
*Presentations (book reports, plays, etc)
*Daily Assignments (bell ringers, notebook checks, grammar/vocab checks, etc)
will be used to assess comprehension on a daily basis.
*Folder Checks- Periodically I will be checking to make sure that your folder is
kept up to date. You are responsible to make sure that you have everything in
your folder at all times, unless I have instructed you to do otherwise.
*Book Reports- 2 times a year
*Finals

Help?- Please feel free to stop by my classroom and speak with me before or
after school about anything. If you are struggling with an assignment, do not feel
like you cant ask me questions. I WANT you to ask questions! My job is to make
sure that you leave my classroom at the end of 7
th
grade knowing more than
what you knew at the beginning of school. Finding educational success in your
7
th
grade English class is very important to me and I will work toward those
successes, if you put forth the effort, also.
