Activity: Input Student Management Data into PowerSchool

Description: I am responsible for inputting student discipline infractions into

PowerSchool. This system is updated nightly and it uploads to ognos. ognos is the
system that reports to the state for the state report card and it is also the system that we
use to generate various reports.
!hat went well"
This is a fairly easy system to use. #rain Seay$ the PowerSchool guru for the county$
came out to our school and provided me with the training so I really felt li%e I was
prepared to use it. I am a person who really li%es to %eep very clear documentation so I
%eep detailed notes in the notes sections. This has proven to be very beneficial when I
need to go bac% and loo% at previous infractions. I am also a person who li%es to mar%
things off of my list so I li%e to input infractions as they occur. Although the system
allows you to put them days later I do try to stay on top of my paperwor%.
!hat did not"
During the months of &ovember and December Dr. Stewart$ our principal$ too% a leave
of absence. 'or the most part we did not have any ma(or issues during his leave. !e did
have a retired principal come in to provide assistance while he was out. The interim
principal did not want to change things$ but she did want to help. )er forte was
discipline so she oftentimes wanted to deal with any discipline issues that arose. This
was wonderful$ but her downfall was giving me the documentation to then input into the
system. I often had to go and search for the documentation and I %now that some of it
simply did not get entered. This became and issue when the same students got referred
for later offenses and we did not have record of previous offenses.
*iven the chance to do it again$ how would you do it better"
I really thin% that there could have been a very simple way of dealing with this situation$
but I was caught in a situation in which I did not want to appear disrespectful. If I could
go bac% I would have placed a bas%et in the office and all referrals would have been place
in that. 'rom that point$ I could pic% them up and input them on a daily basis.
