This classical piece is fast
paced, dramatic, and has
abrupt changes in tones. I think
this piece would be a good
piece to listen to when
teaching a PreK class about
opposites. I could show them
in movement what it looks like
to be fast paced, slow paced,
gentle, rough, to reach higher
and higher, then lower and
lower.
Zoltn Kodlys Sonata for

This classical piece exclusively
has the cello. In this piece you
can hear the variety of sounds
and timbre of the cello. This
piece would be a great piece to
show to a class when
introducing them to this bowed
string musical instrument from
the violin family.

This classical, relaxing,
melodious piece is played
primarily by violins. This piece
would be a great piece to play
during a quiet time for a
Kindergarden or 1
st
grade
class. This could be played on
a low volume in the
background while students
work.

This Indain piece was
performed as an instrumental
of an Indian song played on
the piano. This piece is not
unique to the Indian culture.
By the sounds of it, one
wouldnt be able to tell this
was a foreign composed piece.
This piece would be a good
way to show students the
similarity in mainstream pop
music from all over the world.
This piece debunks the
stereotypical view of what
Indian music is.
Kal Ho Na Ho
Album Kal Ho Na Ho
Composed by Shankaar
Ehsaan Loy
Performed by Sharon &
Shane

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb5hwTSgB7I This piece is performed with
the combination of two
instruments. One is the
keyboard and the other is the
violin. This is played in duble
meter throughout the piece.
This would be a good piece to
listen to when wanting the kids
to identify which parts are
solely played by the keyboard
and which from the violin.
This song could be used to try
to identify the two instruments
by their timbre.

This classical Indian piece is in
triple meter. This is considered
classical because of the use of
the sitar, an instrument known
to be used by Indian music
composers. The tempo of this
piece is medium-fast. This
classical Indian piece would be
great to include in a lesson
about cultural music. One
could really foster a
welcoming, multicultural
attitude to students by
including music from different
parts of the world.

This pop culture song was
performed with two
instruments, the piano and the
cello. This piece has a slow
tempo to it. It is performed in
duble metre. This piece would
a good to listen to while doing
an activity the water cycle. The
students could fall lightly to
floor like rain drops since this
piece is slow, steady, and
harmonious.

This pop song was performed
using a unique violin
arrangement among four
violinists. This song is in duble
metre. I would couple this
piece with the Laban
Movement of continuous flow
in an activity because the piece
fits that kind of movement.
One could just bend, twirl, and
glide with this type of music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWorsJwzycw This cultural Nordic piece of
music is performed by three
people. One whom has a
guitar, another a violin, and the
other with a nyckelharpa. This
piece is in triple metre. This
Nordic piece would also be
great to include in a lesson
about cultural music. As
mentioned before, one could
really foster a welcoming,
multicultural attitude to
students by including music

world.

because most of the music is coming from Coca-Cola bottles and cans. It can show the
children that you can make music from almost anything.
