Case study 1 Rich Al

Richard Piere Allan (real name) was said to be a good boy when he was still a kid. Well he was, but when
he turned 12 he started digging his grave, he started smoking. Is his father a heavy smoker that he learns
or copied him from smoking? Its a big no. None of his close family smokes. Well, he was an avid fan of
well-known action-star Robin Padilla; he mimicked him not of his fighting skills but his bad boy aura. As
we try to watch some of his movies or for some had watched it already, we can see Padilla smoking on
some scenes. That influenced him or pushed him to smoke. Since then, he felt like he was the big boss
around and worst, he became a bully. During his high school years, still his habit continues. Sometimes
he orders one of his peers to buy him some cigar not of his own money but his classmates. Sometimes
he gave them one peso only and would tell them to buy him a pack of cigar, worst of the worst he would
tell Pakibalik ang barya, or Iyong barya pakibili na lamang ng candy. Hes a type of guy whos not
that violent but saying sting words and cussing mikes him a bully. Sometimes, when his friends had
failed to obey him, Rich treated them which sometimes lead to fighting. But for heaven sake, it doesnt
lead to further injuries.
His parents are aware of his habit. They tried to stop him of course yet he is hard-headed, he didnt stop.
Neither his elder sister tried to stop him but Richard would just say Well its my life and its just for
pleasure, which is too clich. He also added that he smokes for relaxation especially when he loses his
temper and stressed. I do not only smoke but I also drink and it really taste good when I do both.
Drinking makes my smoking fast., said he. Speaking of weekly basis, he spends ten pesos but when
Syntax Bill came, it was doubled.
