Some people are content to sit and watch the parade go by. Not
ODP. We put ourselves right in the middle of it! Well, technically
near the end but they put you where they put you. You know what I
mean. Nevertheless, our message that our vote is precious and
personal, and that big money corrupts the process was in full
display, all down the parade route and across the street from curb to
curb. The locals lining the street were treated (if you want to use
that word) to our crazy group of characters dashing about, including
Susan B. Anthony, Rich Uncle Pennybags, Lady Liberty, JP
Moneybags and several intrepid voters seeking only to caste their
vote into our friendly human ballot box, free from coercion. The
crowd seemed to enjoy the spectacle, particularly the little children
who, despite our pleading, often could not resist the kindly offerings
of cash from the 1%'ers. Yes, there is still much work to do.
To finish on a serious note, the receptiveness of the crowd to our
message of voter empowerment strengthens our resolve and
charges our energy to see through this effort. We proved that it is
ultimately patriotic to descent when detrimental forces threaten our
democracy.
