UNIT : The Earth’s Energy-sources and Storage


SUBJECT : SCIENCE
GRADE : VII (SEVEN)
TOPIC : SAVING ENERGY (pg#215)
TIME ALLOCATION : 40 MINUTES

Basic Objective:
Pupils should be able to
• Design a poster, badge, paper bag with slogan to make people aware about
“Saving Energy)Or
• Create a poem of two stanzas and a paragraph of 100 words to make people think
about it.

Indicators:
1. Know about energy sources on earth are limited.
2. Suggest some actions to be taken to save energy.

Material needed
Student’s Book
Colour pencils
UHU stick
Ribbon
Half card sheet (any colour)
Brown sheet
Colour Markers

• Settling time(2 minutes)
• Brainstorming--- (5 minutes) ask students about different ways they are
familiar with to save energy, note down students’ responses on the white board.
• Declaration of the lesson (3 minutes) ---today we will show through creative
work that it is very important to save energy.
• Activity— Group Work(25 minutes)
• Whole class will be divided in small groups (4 students in each group—
differentiated on the basis of their ability and interest. Teacher to write down
tasks on the board and let pupils choose according to their interest.
Tasks== Poster making, slogan, paper bags, badges, poems, paragraph writing
Groups will prepare /write according to the task.
Display—Students’ work will be displayed in the class
If not possible on that particular day teacher will display it next day.
Marking Criteria-
Creativity=4
Content=4
Neatness=1
Time Management=1
• Wrap up(5 minutes)

Notes for the teacher


• Teacher must be well aware about the interests of his/her pupils.
• One day before necessary material should collected and put in class cabinet in
order to save time.
• Teacher should have some extra material kept for students who might not bring
it.
• Teacher to monitor and emphasize on time management.
• Display is very important, for this purpose one corner should be prepared with
a tag “Saving Energy”. Pupils feel proud if you value their work.
• In case of paper bags ,poster, you will check that phrase chosen by them or
slogan chosen by them is appropriate as you have to mark it (content=4)
