discussions, reading materials, weekly discussion prompts, and questions asked.
Through thoughtful contributions, student helps other students develop and offer
questions of their own. Further, this student will thoughtfully listen to the
instructor and the fellow students.
4 pts. Student regularly contributes thoughtful comments and insights based on
class discussions, reading materials, weekly discussion prompts, and questions
asked. While the student appreciates and listens to the class discussions, they do
not actively participate as much as other students, nor do they engage the
instructor in the same respect as students with 5 pts.
3 pts. Student sometimes contributes to class discussions, reading materials,
weekly discussion prompts, and questions asked. But these students just
randomly seem to insert comments or questions, rarely offering truly insightful
comments. Generally polite in conversations, but they like they have not been
paying attention to the discussion rather than being truly interested in it.
2 pts. Student rarely contributes, and when they do, its more of an opinion than
a comment related to the discussions, reading materials, weekly discussion
prompts, and questions asked. Need to pay more attention to classmates efforts
and the instructors, questions, prompts or comments.
1 pt. Student reluctantly contributes to discussions, reading materials, weekly
discussion prompts, and questions asked only after being prodded for
contributions. Comments offered are generally minimal and/or disrespectful;
often noticeably disinterested in peers and instructors contributions.
0 pt- Student never contributes to discussions, reading materials, weekly
discussion prompts, and questions asked; and/or has frequently acted
disrespectful towards the instructor of peers.
