1 Shared Vision
Candidates facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in
teaching, learning, and leadership.

Reflection

The Vision Paper was written to explain a new technology vision for my school and outline the roles of
all stakeholders to meet the goals outlined in the vision. The Vision Paper details how I would facilitate
the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning,
and leadership. The paper begins with an explanation of my technology vision, which describes how
technology will be consistently integrated into all content areas to create engaging and authentic learning
experiences for students. The rest of the paper lays out the roles of administrators, the technology coach,
teachers, students, parents, and community members. I completed this vision independently, based on a
variety of research in classroom technology integration.
Standard 1.1, Shared Vision, establishes the expectations for candidates to facilitate the development and
implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. This
artifact demonstrates my ability to facilitate the development of a shared vision by laying out a vision that
I can now present to the stakeholders at my school. We can use this vision to start discussions about the
goals we have for our schools use of technology. Through these discussions, we can modify this vision
to best fit our agreed upon goals. This artifact also demonstrates my ability to facilitate the
implementation of a shared vision through my descriptions of each stakeholders roles and responsibilities
to make our vision a reality. These clearly defined roles show my ability to facilitate the implementation
of a shared vision by determining the roles that need to be filled and who should be responsible for each
role to make our vision happen.
Completing this Vision Paper made me think deeply about my current views, hopes, and dreams for the
use of instructional technology. It required me to think about the various roles that our schools
stakeholders would have to take on to make my vision a reality. Finally, it challenged me to base my
vision in research of best practices instructional technology.
In the future, to improve this vision statement, I would like to meet with a group of stakeholders at my
school to refine and revisit the goals and roles I set forth. I truly believe great synergy would occur with a
team of people working together to plan and develop technology goals, and move this vision to the next
level. A vision created with a team of people would contain the ideas and beliefs of many, and improve
stakeholder support.
The work that went into creating this artifact will impact school improvement. This vision will serve as a
jumping off point for a team of school stakeholders to create a shared technology vision. The school will
benefit from this clearly defined, shared vision. The impact of this shared vision could be assessed
through regular observations, in which the types of technology use are documented and growth of
meaningful technology use is observed.
