Aim
Chilled in a Field Festival will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of all children within
events programmed specifically for children. Chilled in a Field Festival believes that the safety of
children is paramount on all occasions.
Objectives
Chilled in a Field Festival is committed to protecting children from the following:
Harm
Injury
Abduction
Attack
Emotional distress
Abuse
Verbal
Physical
Sexual
Bullying
Exposure to inappropriate...

Language
Materials
Actions
Through these objectives, Chilled in a Field Festival is committed to ensuring that all possible
situations are risk assessed to ascertain the level of risk involved. Chilled in a Field Festival will
then endeavor to establish suitable control measures to reduce the risk to acceptable levels.
Artists and event crew must be aware of the risk assessment and control measures in place.
Chilled in a Field Festivals Safe Child Policy will be accessible to all artists and event crew and
also available for inspection to all.
Lost Child Procedure
Upon receiving a report of a missing/LOST child, young person or vulnerable adult, it is expected
that the member of festival crew notify Security as soon as possible.
Found Children
Found children or vulnerable adults should be escorted directly to the First Aid Tent
accompanied by two members of crew, one of whom must be female.
The Hosting Manager must be notified as soon as possible (or Security if Midnight - 8am)
Two people must be with the child at all times - no member of crew must EVER be alone
with a child.
While in the care of the Chilled in a Field, every effort will be made to ensure the comfort,
safety and well-being of the child.
The Hosting Manager (or Security) will mobilise Hosts and other crew as appropriate to
re-unite the child with their parent or guardian, as appropriate, or referral to statutory
agencies as appropriate.
Communication
NEITHER notification of LOST or FOUND children will take place over the radio unless in an
emergency and then all efforts will be made to restrict the amount of information given in
this manner, such as names or other identifying details. A fixed or mobile phone line
should be used wherever possible.
RADIO 'CODE WORDS' FOR CHILDREN WILL BE IN USE AT THIS EVENT. The code word
for lost child is LEGO. This is the ONLY code word to be used. e.g. I have someone
here who has lost some lego or Some lego has been handed in
Reuniting a Child with a Parent/Guardian
When a child is reunited with their parent or guardian then, ID should be requested and
noted and only in extreme circumstances should a young child be allowed to leave
without
the parent providing some form of ID.
Should the child seem afraid or unwilling to accompany the parent or guardian then
assistance /advice from the Police should be sought.
Should the parent or guardian seem in any way unfit to care for that child then assistance
/ advice from the Police may be sought.
Security will be advised when that individual leaves in the care of their parent or guardian.
Notes will be kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act for a period of one year,
after which point they will be destroyed, unless an ongoing investigation is pending.
