The first step for installing QuickSurf for AutoCAD 2007 is to run the .exe that was included in the zip file and allow the program to install to the default location. This is a different location from previous versions. If you wish to change this location you may, but you must remember this change, the program will assume by default the following C:\Program Files\QuickSurf 2007 Open the .zip file and run the .exe included. Pick the installation location, C:\Program Files\QuickSurf 2007 is the default. Once the program has installed, you may proceed. Installing Support Path This step is identical to previous versions
Start AutoCAD Select Tools then Options... Select the Files tab Select Support File Search Path Press the Add.. button Enter the full path to the QuickSurf directory in the open cursor... Such as C:\Program Files\QuickSurf 2007 Press the Apply button Press OK to exit the dialog You may ignore any warning to restart AutoCAD if it pops up, this is more common in older versions. Click Browse Locate the QS52.cui file located in the main program folder (by default C:\Program Files\QuickSurf 2007)
Once the menu files QS52.cui had been selected, press Load By selecting Load the name QUICKSURF will appear in the list of Loaded Customization Groups. Once this loaded, select Close
You should see the QuickSurf menu loaded up top, on the far right of the loaded menus. At any time if AutoCAD gives any warning about replacing menu files, you can IGNORE this warning. QuickSurf is NOT changing the menu files in any significant manner. Advanced Menu Loading The introduction of the .cui menu file makes installing the menus easier. There is a way to customize and manually load the QuickSurf menu. Please do not attempt this unless you are familiar with AutoCAD menus. By default the .cui menu loading will add the needed QuickSurf menu file (up top, pull down) and the floating toolbar. If you wish to edit this information, you may edit the menu settings. Tools > Customize > Interface This will load the menu options interface in AutoCAD Here you can make changes to the AutoCAD menu file Main CUI File (acad.cui) AutoCAD help can explain how to edit these files. If you click on the Transfer Tab you can look at the options between 2 different .cui files. In the first window open Main CUI File (acad.cui) In the 2nd window open qs52.cui Once these 2 files are loaded you can see how the menu files were transferred and installed. Once again AutoCAD help can assist in learning how to manipulate these options. To install QuickSurf, you do not need to understand these advanced settings.
