Water from the reservoir is released and flows down the

penstock.
The moving water uses its momentum to turn the turbine.
The turbine turns a magnet inside of a coil of copper wire,
which produces electricity.
The electricity travels to the transformer, where it changes the
electricity into a Alternating Current (AC).
The AC is then sent through power lines to where it is needed.
