Hi Aurora;
I do agree with that logic! Keep mention of the sedation scales in this policy and we will add more global
sedation points in the future state pain management policy for the system as a reiteration.
I did add 2 small changes in the attached draft in the monitoring section..(after the narcan statement, I just put
in per PCA orders and then added non-protected airway to the sleeping patient.both via track changes)
You are almost there..!
nicely done!

Importance: High

Hi, Shannon.

I talked with Rob Montgomery yesterday, and he told me that you had some concerns over the sedation
section in the PCA policy. I'm ready to send out my next--and hopefully last--stakeholders email asking for
approval. However, I was hoping that you can take a quick look at any areas you're worried about and
perhaps give your okay before I send it out to the group. You were the only one who had changes last time,
and I'd like to make sure I fulfilled all of them.

Regarding the sedation section, even though we'll be going to a system-wide pain management policy that
will include sedation, I feel it is very appropriate to have sedation in this policy as well. I've checked the
sedation scale levels we're defining in it with those used at both North and South campuses and with Rob
M, and we should now all be aligned. Sedation is such an important part of monitoring and management of
the PCAs, I think it really ought to be addressed explicitly in the policy.

Please let me know your thoughts on the current version and sedation. Your feedback has been very
insightful and useful. Also, if you could possibly get back to me by the end of the week so that I can send
out that aforementioned stakeholders email, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you again for all your help!
Aurora
