PROSOIL Technical Assistants (Grade 3) casual post

Main purpose of job To provide field support to WG-funded research on how to optimise soil health within ruminant livestock systems. The successful applicant will work as part of a team, supporting field and laboartory-based experimental work.
Job Description 1. To assist with the maintenance of experimental land and animal resources at Gogerddan and Trawscoed. 2. To assist with the collection of biological samples (forages, soil etc..) from field experiments. 3. Preparation of samples (soil sifting and milling forage) for submission for further analysis. 4. To take and accurately record measurements within field and plot scale experiments. 5. Accurate recording of data and field sampling activities in excel datasheets and field notebooks.
Given the nature of the post, flexible working at peak sampling times will be required. Person specification Essential criteria: Excellent team-working and organisational skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions Knowledge of basic IT packages (excel; word etc) Good written and verbal communication skills Full driving licence
Desirable criteria HND or BSc in Agriculture or other relevant subject Practical knowledge of agriculture and grassland management
