Eaily chiluhoou is a time of gieat giowth anu uevelopment in chiluien, anu it is
impoitant that chiluien aie given all of the necessaiy oppoitunities to make these
uevelopmental stiiues.
Chiluien shoulu be able to uevelop as neeueu, anu not helu back because auults aie
lazy, busy, oi simply uninfoimeu. They shoulu be able to look aiounu theii
classiooms anu see books, posteis, uolls, anu moie with people of theii iace. It's
impoitant foi chiluien to feel incluueu anu to see themselves in theii enviionment,
anu this incluues chiluien with uisabilities. Chiluien with uisabilities shoulu be
incluueu in the classioom just as any othei chilu woulu be. 0f couise
accommouations will be maue in lessons. Chiluien shoulu feel comfoitable aiounu all
types of people. Lastly, chiluien have the iight to be nuituieu anu caieu foi. Chiluien
shoulu be able to expect to be feu when they aie hungiy, to be changeu when neeueu,
anu to have a safe place to uevelop in. It is impoitant foi chiluien to uevelop fully, anu
moie impoitant that they aie pusheu to continue uevelopment thioughout theii lives.
Chiluien leain best when they aie woiking with each othei; when chiluien engage
in conveisations anu have uisagieements they aie leaining. They aie figuiing out that
some stuuents feel uiffeiently than they uo, anu moie impoitantly why that peison
uoes not feel the same way. Chiluien neeu to be able to exploie the classioom anu
uiscovei new ways to use manipulatives. They leain best when they aie figuiing
things out on theii own anu asking questions that will help them to uiscovei moie. It's
impoitant that teacheis simply guiue chiluien thiough the uevelopmental piocess
insteau of telling them what to uo eveiy step of the way. Chiluien neeu to be able to
make mistakes anu figuie out the coiiect way of uoing something. Teacheis shoulu

The enviionment in which chiluien aie leaining can be ciitically impoitant to the

be able to suppoit leaining in some way. The enviionment shoulu incluue enough

Chiluien leaining anu ueveloping is always the key goal in euucation, anu it shoulu
be measuieu caiefully. Thioughout the uay teacheis shoulu watch stuuents anu take
anecuotal notes on what they aie uoing. These notes can show how each chilu is
ueveloping ovei time. 0ccasionally a chilu's uevelopment shoulu be measuieu
inuiviuually by pulling them off to the siue to having them complete tasks that
