Managers with nurses on light duty should contact Regina if they are interested in doing audits Empirical Outcomes Audits Janna reviewed the handout Percentage of Reassessments. Also she asked howwe would feel about scoring our own audits. She passed around a handout on Scoring PainAudits. She noted that sometimes a person can have their pain reassessed but still have a high pain score which is not reflected in the audit results. All Units will do anAudit inApril as it is the quarterly audit. NewKnowledge Patient Satisfaction/Comfort Function Goal The biggest area that needs improvement is Nursing communication and Physician communication. We did score high on Courtesy. Amy Searls led a discussion on what we can do to improve scores. Barb passed around an article on howto Teach Patients and Their Families Howto Use a Pain Rating Scale. Tip Sheets on updates to the pain-comfort Function Goal were provided for all. This will go into effect onApril 22. Training for Avatar is onApril 16. Our presence with patients help themknowwe are sincere and care about their pain. Sitting at the bedside to have a dialogue will help build a relationship with them. Some suggestions for improving scores would be to use White Boards for communicating , non pharm interventions. Create and use comfort carts. Use resources fromVolunteers office.
