IV CAMPOS

2 months have passed, I learned a lot in our course Advanced Physics. According to our Physics book last year,
Physics is a branch of science and it involves the study of the physical world. It is also one of the most fundamental
of the sciences at it is also an adventure studying this course.
To be honest, studying this course has never been easy to me. It requires patience in solving problems and focus.
Our teacher is the best, I admit its not Sir Sonnys fault that I cant understand some of the lessons that are being
tackled every day.
I think the reason behind this is that Im always hungry because our time in Physics is before our lunch break. Im
also drowsy as Im always tired at night because of our assignments. Despite of all the reasons why I cant fully
understand some of our lessons in Advanced Physics, I still enjoy it because it helps us understand the physical
world.
Weve done so many activity, group and individual that helped us understand our lessons. My favorite activity is when
we built a shelter using a newspaper. While were doing that, I saw our team work on how to make a comfortable one
because our shelter has a roof while others dont.
I also find out who invent the things that we are currently using. My favorite giant in Physics is Alessandro Volta due
to inventing the first electric battery. He is my favorite because his invention is really usable. Without the electric
battery, we can no longer use flashlights during an emergency. I admire and I am thankful not to him alone, but to all
of the Giants in Physics for creating such a magnificent inventions.
Our main topic in this course is all about waves. I learned that there are 2 types of waves, Transverse and
Compressional or Longitudinal waves. There are also 2 main parts of a wave, crest and trough. Crest is the highest
part of a wave while Trough is the lowest part. There is also called the wavelength and the amplitude. The wavelength
is obviously the length of the wave while the amplitude is the height of the wave. I also learned the formula in finding
the frequency and period. The speed of the wave depends on where it is travelling and dont depend on the
wavelength and the frequency. I figure out that there are so many formulas in calculating the waves.
There is also called the wave speed, its formula is speed is equal to lambda over period. Lambda is the wavelength.
Sir Sonny also discussed on how to determine the speed of the string, it also has its own formula. The formula is
Speed is equal to square root of tension over mu or linear density, where mu is equal to m over l. T represents the
tension. Tension is a kind of force. We studied the speed of longitudinal waves in solid, liquid and gas. This lesson is
kinda difficult for me because you have to memorize all the formulas. I dont even know when will I use these
formulas. But when Sir Sonny gave an example, it helped me figure out when to use the formula of liquid, solid and
gas.

There are also 2 waves of light, reflection and refraction. The reflection is the going back and forth while the
refraction passes through an object. This is one of my favorite, I love memorizing definitions not numbers. There is a
wave coming from the source and it is called the incident wave. We all know the definition of echo, echo occurs when
you hear the sound multiple times. It occurs inside the caves, or a theatre room, It occurs in a close room.
Sir Sonny also taught us the Law of Reflection. According to our Sir, the law of reflection states that the angle of
incident is equal to the angle of reflection. We drew a Cartesian plane. It involves the boundary line which represents
as the x axis, normal line that represents the y axis, the incident ray that strikes the boundary line and the reflected
ray that represents the bouncing of light.
On the other hand, the bending of waves is called the refraction. Unlike reflection, when a light hits the boundary line
it does not bounce. It passes through the boundary line. Perfect example would be the light passes through a piece
of paper. The light did not bounce back. There is also a wave called diffraction. It occurs when waves strike an object
many things can happen to it.
Sir Sonny also gave us an assignment every end of the week, he assigns us to write a reflection paper about what
we learned this week. Writing a reflection paper helps us understand their definitions. My favorite topic is all about the
speed of light, because for me it is the easiest topic that we tackled.
According to Sir Sonny, not only through reflections we see things but also through refraction. Sir also discusses the
two types of reflection which are the specular and diffuse reflection and also the Laws of reflection. Our last topic was
all about Plane Mirror. According to our lesson, in a plane mirror image formed is SALT.
Lastly, I learned how to be wise when solving equation and be patient. We should always listen to our teacher when
he or she is discussing especially when its Advanced Physics.
