Duties Performed:
o Ordered supplies/drugs for inventory
o In charge of surgery/controlled drug logs, as well as, controlled drugs
o Prepare treatment rooms for examination of animals, and hold or restrain animals
during examination and treatment
o Anesthetize and monitor animals and serve as circulating nurse during sterile
surgical procedures. Assist in preparation of sterilized surgery suite, surgery
packs, gowns, towels and instruments
o Administer routine post-operative and daily treatments to animals as instructed,
prescribed and required; assist in diagnostic treatments such as performing routine
hematologic and parasitologic tests and collecting blood and other diagnostic
specimens
o Administer animal vaccinations, assist in birthing, treat animals for disease, and
perform euthanasia on animals as appropriate, under the direction of a Veterinarian
o Place catheters, set up and run IV fluids, apply wound dressings, perform dental
prophylaxes, nail, beak and wing trims
o Impose and release quarantines under the direction of a Veterinarian
o Prepare patient medication and provide general disease control information to
involved parties and provide client education as needed
o Package animal specimens for delivery to the Department of Agriculture
laboratory or other appropriate laboratory
o Receptionist duties:
Answer multi line phone
Make appointments for clients using DVMAX and AVIMARK software
system
Complete charges for clients using telecheck, credit card machine or care
credit machine
Utilize the DVMAX, AVIMARK and Client Trax database system for
Veterinary record keeping
Assist with filing and inventory control
