Course Title: Physics

Credit: One period for two semesters, one half credit each semester
Instructor: Mr. Amundson
Prerequisites: Pass physical science, algebra and geometry with a C or better or obtain the consent of the
instructor.
Course Description: This course is designed for those intending to pursue higher education at the technical
college or university level, especially those intending to pursue a career in engineering, physical sciences,
electronics, or related field. High school physics is a year long course which eposes the student to the study
s!ills, lab s!ills, and !nowledge re"uired of a person entering physics at the college level. Topics that will be
studied include measurement, motion, vectors, forces, energy, heat, sound, light and electricity.

Ground Rules
I. MAK !P "ORK:
Ma!e up wor! will be completed within two days of the day of return. -ince assignments are readily available
on the internet you should not re"uire more time. Any assignment, "ui. or test attempted after this timeframe
will not be counted for grade unless a special arrangement has been made with Mr. Amundson prior to the
absence. Mitigating circumstances may be considered. Habitual absence on the scheduled dates of
tests/"ui..es is not favorable to you. Habitual absence is considered missing two or more tests/"ui..es in a
"uarter. Ma!e up for tests/"ui..es missed in such a circumstance will be a uni"ue test/"ui. designed for the
occasion.
#ACATIO$ %IT!ATIO$%:
0acations during the school year are not desirable, however sometimes not avoidable. #f you are ta!ing a trip,
vacation or other planned absence you are still responsible for ma!ing up wor! that is missed including all
labs and tests.

1hen you come to class, you are epected to bring with you, your tetboo!, your writing instrument,
noteboo!s, completed assignments, and assigned calculator. 2ailure to do so will count against your grade.

Assignments are given to eplore and practice the concepts of this class and as such are essential to
learning the concepts. Assignments will be given for in class wor! to be completed as part of a team effort
and given as homewor! to be completed individually. All assignments are to be completed by everyone and
not 'ust the recorder of the team. # epect assignments to be completed on time, with your best effort.
Assignments are to be brought to class when you come. #f your assignment is not up to acceptable

Readin( Assi(n)ents 8 The written word is an essential and fundamental way in which !nowledge is
transmitted and gained. 7ou are preparing to ta!e the net step to higher education and need to be able to
gain as much information as possible from the written tet. Consider your reading assignment as vital as
your written assignments. To help ensure that you are ta!ing the appropriate actions with respect to the
necessary reading there will be specific written assignments and "ui..es to assess your actual reading of the
tet. These concepts may not be covered in lecture and your success will be determined by your efforts to
read and ac"uire this information from the reading assignments.
