Although the economy of Peru has grown signifcantly in the past fve years, it is estimated that

78 percent of Perus indigenous children live in poverty. We believe the future of Peru rests upon
the shoulders of the children. Feed the World isnt just about maintaining childrens health; it is

Agriculture has been shown to do the following:
Peru should invest in agricultural development because agriculture is the biggest contributing
factor in the reduction of poverty and enabling sustainable growth.
Feed the World has recently developed an effcient training system to implement self-reliant
agriculture in rural villages. Feed the World has already implemented this program in other
countries as well as Frias, Peru where they just graduated 150 people and are in the process of
enrolling another 150.

Peru has a rich history in agriculture, and we want to keep that history going. Feed the World
will train families how to be self-suffcient and these families will, in turn, teach their posterity.

FTW trains people from the zone
Training process is adapted to the background, experience and studies the technician has
Training content is specifed to certain area (agronomy, animal science, etc.)
Culture is included in training technicians
Program requires six individuals including a nutritionist, agronomist, small-animal scientist;
each of these specialists have an assistant that works with them and the families in the
program.
Three to four weeks to train one person
About $1,200 per specialist. Right now, the costs associated with training include staff time,
materials and visits to the feld. In the future we will be offering much of this training online,
which will reduce costs and permit us to scale up quickly.
Teachers then go teach the families.
For each region, wed be asking them to annually commit to $150k plus land for a demo
farm. We would be making a similar
commitment.
This commitment would last for 3 years, at which time the region would take over
control of the operation and FTW would step down into a consultative role.
If government says no, then FTW coming to their region would be contingent upon us
obtaining additional resources on our own, which could take years or not happen at all.
Retention is at 37 percent now, and we are hoping to increase this in the future.
