OBJECTIVE
To study the function and movement of pneumatic robot arm and its different features
along with uses
EQUIPMENT
Pneumatic Robot
Compressor with automatic pressure solenoid switch
Power Supply of 24 volts with six switch box

SUMMARY
Study of apparatus can be summarized in following sections
WORKING AND MOTION
Pneumatic arm needs compressed air to move its hydraulic pistons like any other
pneumatic tools, so there is a compressor attached to the pneumatic robot which supply it
with the required air pressure. The compressor keeps pressure at the required level and
makes up loss as soon as the pressure goes below the required level. In our case, pressure
switch was set at 100 psi. Whenever pressure goes below 100 psi compressor start
running to fill tank with compressed air.
Robot have six different axis or degrees of freedom to work on, all of them can be
controlled by six different switches mounted on a box with power supply of 24 volts.
Movement of robot on its axis pretty much define their uses itself.
1. Base Rotation Axis
2. Arm Extension Axis
3. Arm Elevation Axis
4. Wrist Rotation Axis of Jaws
5. Gripping Axis of Jaws
6. Track Sliding of Axis

USES
Due to its versatility being a multi-axis machine or multi- degrees of freedom, it find
numerous in field of manufacturing, transportation and research and exploration sciences.
They can be used to move one package to another no matter how heavy packages are.
They are used to handle materials that are lethal or harmful to human health. By taking
account the time taken by its movement industrial processes can be automated easily.
They are being employed in places where human reach isnt possible like in deep sea.
They are becoming increasingly popular as they have good power to weight ratio than
their counter electric motor parts. They are even cheaper than electric counter parts which
makes them the standard industry choice globally.
