Rosy Pereyra, President of ILC Dominica Republic, join the World Elder Abuse Awareness
Day celebration in Santo Domingo

Dr. Rosy Pereya, President of
International Longevity Center
Dominican Republic, and the
Dominican network for Dignity
in Old Age, which she
coordinates, celebrated WEAAD
(World Elder Abuse Awareness
Day) on June 15, 2014 in Santo
Domingo.

They started their activities on
Tuesday the 10
th
, visiting the
office of the First Lady, Mrs.
Cndida Medina with a proposal
to diminish the incidence of
abuse, then went to the office of
the Public Defender, Dr. Zoila
Martnez, to ask her support
and advocacy for the victims of
abuse.

Finally they hosted a symposium
on human rights at Hotel
Clarion with a representative of
the public defenders office, the
President of the National Council
of Human Rights in the Dominica
Republic and Dr. Pereyra as
principal speakers.

The symposium received an
extensive press coverage. They
also participated in four TV and
two radio programs.
