About the Spanish Classroom Your children learn Science, Math, and Spanish language and literacy with Sra. Quave. Students receive 50% of their classroom instruction in Spanish. Science and Math are taught and assessed in Spanish. Spanish is the language of instruction and communication in the Spanish classroom. Students speak Spanish at all times when with Sra. Quave. Please encourage your child to do so. The Spanish teachers in the program speak only Spanish in the presence of children. Families may volunteer to work with children in the classroom where they speak the language of instruction. Families may help in either classroom by making copies and creating materials for the teachers.
Spanish Homework Parents do NOT have to be able to speak Spanish in order to help their children be successful in this program. You can help your child succeed in the Spanish classroom by reading books to them in the home language about the topics we are studying. The Spanish teacher will be concerned with the language acquisition.
