CORROSION
TQC SALT SPRAY CORROSION TEST
Simple and reliable test chamber to perform accelerated corrosion tests on a wide variety of materials
such as paints, metals, electronics etc. Simplicity of operation is guaranteed by an easy to understand
control panel, with minimal operator intervention required. Good reliability arises from the uncomplicated basic design, coupled with the use of high quality component parts.
Two sizes of cabinets are oered in capacities of 500L & 1000 Liters. In each case great care has been
taken to maximize the useable cross-sectional area, to enable a large number of samples to be tested
at one time, without compromising on good ergonomics. So the chamber has a convenient loading
height and it is easy to reach the back and bottom without diculty. The entire design is based upon a
robust Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) construction, combined with other plastic materials, to guarantee
a corrosion resistant nish and long life.
Each size of cabinet is capable of complying with the most popular international standards for salt fog
testing, including;
ASTM B117, ISO 9227, DIN 50 021, JIS Z 2371

Inside the cabinet, moveable sample holders are provided to accommodate the samples under test, at
a convenient height.
The cabinets are oor standing and mounted on lockable castors.

ISO4624ASTM D 4541a cut around the circumference of the

dolly/test cylinder through the adhesive and coating onto the substrate.

This cut has to be made care-

fully in order to avoid any stress to the dolly. Especially on hard coatings this is not an easy job to do.
The TQC Dolly Drill is a simple device especially designed for this application. The three supports are
equipped with ultra strong magnets with a non-slip coating. The device is placed over the dolly and
an adjustable built-in spring presses the hole-saw against the surface. To perform the actual cutting
either the supplied sling or a cordless drill can be used.

ISO 8501-1:2007
Rust grades and preparation grades of uncoated steel substrates and of steel substrates after overall
removal of previous coatings ISO 8501-1:2007 is a hardback A5-format book in four languages
(English, French, German and Swedish), which species a series of rust grades and preparation
grades of steel surfaces. The various grades are dened by written descriptions together with photo-

graphs that are representative examples within the tolerance for each grade as described in words.
It is applicable to hot-rolled steel surfaces prepared for painting by methods such as blast-cleaning,
hand and power tool cleaning and ame cleaning, although these methods rarely lead to comparable
results. Essentially, these methods are intended for hot-rolled steel, but blast-cleaning methods, in
particular, could also be used on cold-rolled steel of sucient thickness to withstand any deformation
caused by the impact of the abrasive or the eects of power tool cleaning.
This part of ISO 8501 is applicable also to steel substrates that show residues of rmly adhering paint
and other foreign matter in addition to residual mill scale.
ISO 8501-1:2007 | LD3020

ISO 8501-2:1998
Preparation of previously coated steel substrates after localized removal of previous coatings species
a series of preparation grades for steel surfaces after localized removal of previous paint coatings.
Contains photographs showing examples of preparation grades. The various preparation grades are
dened by written descriptions. Applicable to surfaces prepared for painting by methods such as
blast-cleaning, hand- and power-tool cleaning, and machine abrading.
ISO 8501-2:1998 | LD3027

ISO 8501-3:2006
Preparation grades of welds, edges and other areas with surface imperfections ISO 8501-3:2006
describes preparation grades of welds, cut edges and other areas, on steel surfaces with imperfections.
Such imperfections can become visible before and/or after an abrasive blast-cleaning process.
The preparation grades given are to make steel surfaces with imperfections, including welded and
fabricated surfaces, suitable for the application of paints and related products.
ISO 8501-3:2006 | LD3044

ISO 8501-4:2006
Initial surface conditions, preparation grades and ash rust grades in connection with high-pressure
water jetting.
ISO 8501-4:2006 is a hardback A5-format book in three languages (English, French and German)
which species a series of preparation grades for steel surfaces after removal/partial removal of
water-soluble contaminants, rust, previous paint coatings and foreign matter by high-pressure water
jetting. The various grades are dened by written descriptions together with photographs that are
representative examples within the tolerances for each grade as described in words. In addition, this
part of ISO 8501 species both initial surface conditions and after-cleaning ash rust grades, also
dened by written descriptions together with representative photographic examples.

TANK COATINGS CONDITION GUIDE

A guide to assist ships sta in the assessment of tank, hold and space coatings of existing ships for the
purpose of determining compliance with the Rules and Regulations for the Classication of Ships. The
guide handles the denition of the tank coating condition in Good / Fair / Poor classication. It also
contains the IACS methodology to divide tanks into a number of smaller areas under consideration
which can easily be identied.
Further are included schematics to help dening area determination, percentage of coatings breakdown for specic ship structures and a comparison of common rust scales. A series of full color pictures
of tank coatings in various conditions and a section that describes and shows the hotspots for corrosion and other common defects is also part of the guide.
The last section contains sketched indicating common nomenclature and terminology applied to
typical structure of major ship types.

TQC COATING-DEFECT IDENTIFICATION LABEL (CDI)

Defects in coatings systems can be found using inspection equipment such as coating thickness
gauges, porosity tests, UV lamps etc. or through visual inspection. Often it is required to mark the
defects so they can be easily found on a later stage for various reasons such as touch-up work by the
contractor, witnessing by other inspectors / parties and so on .
For QC-reporting it is helpful to make pictures of the defects. TQC CDI Labels are not only suitable to
identify and mark defects in coatings systems but are also used to show size/dimensions and
quantity/square centimeter of defects on pictures.
The labels have a number of unique features such as:

both bright and dark surfaces.

Non stick pull tab

Easy to write-on
TQC CDI labels are used in protective coating jobs as well as in nishing lines on production facilities to
mark faults such as blistering, pinholes, holydays, orange peel, sagging, solvent retention, color/gloss
dierences, thickness deviations, scratches, delaminating, etc.but also to mark points of attention
prior to the painting job or during the pre-treatment process.
Material: uorescent yellow semi-permanent adhesive with non-stick pull tab

40 x 63 mm
