Welcome to my class! During this school year, you will be working to master Texas learning
standards in Reading. We will be using OL as our textbook, but su!!lemental resources as well as many
other acce!table and a!!ro"ed acti"ities and no"els will also be used. We will be hitting reading
!assages !retty hard as we mo"e into the school year to !re!are your student #or the !ring T$$R
tests. %y the end o# the year, your child will be identi#ying !assage main ideas and will be well "ersed in
se"eral ty!es o# &iction and 'on(&iction genres. We ha"e much to accom!lish, so get yoursel# ready!

Reading 1lass 1onnect sessions are REQUIRED #or e"ery student, e"ery week. ome students
may work ahead and com!lete the corres!onding tudy )sland assignment and be excused #rom a
Reading 1lass 1onnect. The student must noti#y the teacher !rior to the 1lass 1onnect and
in#orm them that they ha"e com!leted the tudy )sland lesson and will not be in that weeks 1lass
1onnect. This is the students res!onsibility.
