letter from Dan Asterley of Aymestrey School 1972

Very much in Dr Jekyll mode here. He was the official school correspondent so it was to him that
!ld "oys tended to write. #t has his trademark D. A. $. A. si%nature &looks more like '. A. (. ).*
which he used on school work + ,ooks which had ,een -passed- reports and so on. #t was not hard
to for%e and a few of us did. # could still do a %ood appro.imation thou%h # didn/t ha0e the ner0e to
actually use it in those days. 1ore difficult of course was to fool Dan into thinkin% he had really
si%ned somethin%. !ne ,oy faked the si%nature in an -unpassed- no0el2 Dan thum,ed throu%h it
noted the initials looked at him said /mmm/ and handed it ,ack with a smile. "ut on another
occasion he found a counterfeit si%nature on somethin% and punished the whole school ,ecause no
one owned up.
