Roger Bowling - Defendant charged in connection with the double homicide and dismemberment
of an Allen Park couple. The jury has been selected and opening arguments will begin tomorrow
before Judge Ulysses Boykin.


VVed nesday, Aug ust 13, 2014

Calvin Mosby and Devaunte Starks - Defendants charged in the fatal shooting death of an
eight- year-old boy on East Street. Today the preliminary examination was adjourned until
September 4, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.

Eric C handler, Devon Berry, Clare nce Moo re, Jr., and Rodney Jean Richards -
Defendants charged in connection with the carjacking and fatal shooting of Dontae Norris on
Rutland Street. The preliminary examination was adjourned until Monday, August, 18, 2014.

Detroit Man and Woman Charged in Coplin Street Homicide

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Brandi Wilson, 19 (DOB: 12/9/94 and Jamal McNabb, 20
(DOB: 6/6/93) with Felony Murder, First Degree Premeditated Murder and Felony Firearm in
connection with the death of Sean J. Mathis, 37 , all of Detroit. On July 31, 2014, at approximately
12:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a location in the 2590 block of Coplin where a dead body
was found in the trunk of a burned car. An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to
the arrest of the two defendants. It is alleged that the defendants robbed the victim of his personal
property, shot him multiple times and placed his body in the trunk a car in a lot near a vacant
school in the 2590 block of Coplin.

The defendants are expected to be arraigned on Saturday, morning in 36

Charges Dismissed Against Former Tiger Pitcher Evan Reed

On July 30, 2014 Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy charged minor league Toledo Mud Hens baseball
pitcher Evan Reed, 28, in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 45-year-old Oakland
County woman. On March 29, 2014 at 10:00 p.m. it is alleged that the complainant was at a bar in
200 block of Main Street in Royal Oak with a female friend. On March 30, 2014 around 12:00
a.m. the complainant met Reed and they danced. Afterward they sat in a booth with others and
chatted. At some point the complainant finished an alcoholic drink and began to feel odd.

After midnight on March 30, 2014 Reed and the complainant left the bar and went to a hotel
located in the 2900 block of Grand River in Detroit. The complainant alleges that at approximately
7:30 a.m. on the same day Reed sexually assaulted her in the hotel room. She further alleges that
after the sexual assault Reed instructed her to leave.

Reed was charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree, a crime that carries
a maximum penalty of 15 years. He was charged under the theory that he is alleged to have
committed an act of penetration through force or coercion. He was also charged under the theory
that he committed an act of penetration when he had reason to know the victim was physically
helpless or mentally incapacitated or mentally incapable to consent.

Today Judge Kenneth King did not bind the defendant over and dismissed the case against Reed,
citing that he had credibility issues with the complainant's testimony. "At this time a decision has
not been made regarding an appeal of the dismissal of the case, it will be announced at a later
date," said Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller.

Detroit Man Arrested Wearing Tether Charged with Murder

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Doyle Mims, 21 (DOB 12/12/93), of Detroit, in connection
with the homicide of Sa-Jad Al-Jabur, 29. On August 19, 2014 at approximately 3:40 p.m., in front
of at a location in the 15090 block of Westbrook, it is alleged that Defendant Mims and another
male got into the victim's car and robbed him. The other man, accompanied by Mims, shot him in
the head with a hand gun. Defendant Mims and the other man fled the scene in a car that was
nearby. It is further alleged that the police were able to track down and arrest Mims because he
was wearing a tether for another criminal case.

Mims has been charged with First Degree Felony Murder and Armed Robbery. He is expected to
be arraigned on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 36

Charges Dismissed Against Former Tiger Pitcher Evan Reed

On July 30, 2014, Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy charged minor league Toledo Mud Hens baseball

Erin Justice - Defendant charged in the homicide of this wife Alicia Marie Fox. He has been
transported back to Detroit after fighting extradition in Atlanta, GA. Justice is expected to be
arraigned on the warrant on First Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony
Firearm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in 35th District Court at 10:30 p.m.

Ronald llitch Charged with Possession of Cocaine

Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Ronald llitch, 57, of Oakland County with
Possession of Cocaine. Mr. llitch is the son of businessman Mike llitch. It is alleged that at
approximately 3:40 p.m. Ronald llitch was driving his car with a female passenger in the area of

Six Mile and Grand River near a local hotel when Detroit Police Department officers conducted a
routine traffic stop. It is further alleged that during a search of the defendant, officers found
suspected cocaine in his possession and placed him under arrest. The woman was released at
the scene by the police.

Mr. llitch has been charged with one count of Possession of Less than 25 grams of a Controlled
Substance (Cocaine , which carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison. He was arraigned
this afternoon in 36 h District Court and received a $5000 personal bond. His pre-examination
hearing will be held before Judge Ronald Giles on September 4, 2014.

old girl in Carlyle Street in Inkster. His preliminary examination before Judge Sabrina Johnson has

Wafer Sentenced in Renisha McBride Homicide

On November 15, 2013 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Theodore Paul Wafer, 54, of Dearborn
Heights, Michigan in connection with the murder of Renisha McBride, 19, of Detroit. On November
2, 2013, at approximately 12:57 a.m., Renisha McBride was driving a white Ford sedan when she
struck a parked car in the in the 7200 block of Bramell. McBride was observed to have blood on
her body and appeared to be disoriented when she. left the scene on foot.

At approximately 4:42 a.m., the police received a 911 call and were dispatched to a home in the
16800 block of West Outer Drive to respond to a fatal shooting. The police responded to the
scene and observed the lifeless body of Ms. McBride in the front porch area of the defendant's
house. McBride was found with a large gunshot wound to her face. It is alleged that Ms. McBride
was unarmed when she was shot by the defendant as she knocked on the front screen door of the
house. There were no signs of forced entry at the location.

Wafer was charged and convicted by a jury of Second Degree Murder, which carries a penalty of
any term of years up to Life in prison; Manslaughter - Death By Weapon Aimed With Intent But
Without Malice, which carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and Felony Firearm, which
carries a penalty of two years mandatory consecutive. Today Judge Dana Hathaway sentenced
Wafer to 15 to 30 years on the Second Degree Murder charge, seven to 15 years on the
Manslaughter charge, and a mandatory two year consecutive sentence on the Felony Firearm
charge.

"This is yet another case that shows the justice system at work in Wayne County - from the police
investigators, the prosecutors, the jury and judge, to the family of Renisha McBride who stoically
and patiently waited for justice. We all must remember that a young woman with her future ahead
of her lost her life and will gone to us forever," said Prosecutor Worthy.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Danielle Hagaman-Clark, Terry Anderson, Patrick Muscat and
Athina Siringas of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit prosecuted the case.

Three Detroit Men Charged in Death of French Street Artist
Charges Pending for 14-year-old J uvenile

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Jasin Reno Curtis, 18 (DOB: 7/9/96), Dionte Darryl Travis
17 (DOB: 11/8/96) and Drequone Lamar Rich, 20 (DOB: 5/31/94), all of Detroit, in connection with
the homicide of French Street Artist Bilal Berreni, 23, who was living in Detroit at the time of his
death. On July 29, 2013 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Berreni was discovered dead at St. Antoine
and Alfred Streets, near the old Brewster Project high rise buildings. Medical examiners later
determined that he died of a gunshot wound to head.

An investigation conducted by the Detroit Police Department Homicide Task Force led to the
arrests of Curtis, Travis, and Rich. It is alleged that the defendants robbed and killed Berreni. More
specific facts and evidence that led to the arrest of the adult defendants will be presented in court
at the preliminary examination in 36

District Court on September 11, 2014.

Curtis, Travis and Rich are each charged with Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Felon in
Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm. Cwrtis and Travis were arraigned on August 29,
2014 and Rich was arraigned on August 30, 2014. Please contact the Detroit Police Department
for photographs of the defendants.

There is currently a 14-year-old male was recently arrested and is in custody in the Wayne County
Juvenile Detention Facility. He is expected to be charged in connection with the homicide on
Thursday, September 4, 2014. An updated release will be sent out once the charges are
authorized tomorrow.

Erin Justice - WCPO has just been informed this morning that defense counsel requested that the
court hearing in this matter be moved from this afternoon and held this morning. That request was
granted Judge Ruth Carter. The defendant has been referred for a competency evaluation at the
Forensic Center and the next court date is November 6, 2014.

2014 and Rich was arraigned on August 30, 2014. Please contact the Detroit Police Department
for photographs of the defendants.

A 14-year old juvenile respondent was recently arrested and is in custody in the Wayne County
Juvenile Detention Facility. On July 29, 2014, when he was 13 years of age, it is alleged that he
participated as an aider and abettor in the armed robbery and homicide of Bilal Berreni. Today he
has been charged and Adult Designated with Armed Robbery and Felony Murder. An Adult
Designation allows the judge, during the sentencing phase, to sentence the respondent as a
juvenile, or as an adult , or in the alternative, to have a blended sentence where the respondent
can be sentenced as a juvenile for a period and then later as an adult. He is expected to have a
preliminary hearing today at 1:30 p.m. that will be held in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention
Facility at 1:30 p.m. before Referee Anthony Crutchfield.

Detroit Public Lighting Employee Charged with Embezzlement and
Stolen Property Felonies

Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Rudolph Washington, 38, of Brownstown, in
connection with the theft of property belonging to the City of Detroit Public Lighting Department
(PLO) and embezzling funds during the course of his employment with PLO. It is alleged that from
May 12, 2014 until July 1, 2014, Washington had no authority to use a PLO credit card and made
approximately 79 unauthorized charges totaling $4,288.99. He is also alleged to possess eight
new General Electric brand street lamps and 96 four foot fluorescent light bulbs identified as City of
Detroit property valued at $4,361. The Detroit Police Department conducted a criminal
investigation in this matter. In July 2014, Washington resigned his position with the DPL.

'The lack of working streetlights resulting in dark neighborhood streets and heightened crime has
long been a serious condition for Detroiters. The alleged actions of the Defendant in this case were
a direct contributor to a problem that the City has been struggling to fix for years," said Prosecutor
Worthy.

Washington is expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court located at 421 Madison Avenue
tomorrow morning at 10:30 p.m.
