Hello and welcome to my future students and parents. I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and hoping to have a great year with everyone. This year is going to be filled with many fun learning activities and experiences. This newsletter will be sent to the parents of my students both through e-mail and home with your student. It will be sent home for you every Friday, to allow you to know what is going on the next week in the classroom. The Newsletter will inform you of class spelling words, upcoming quizzes and tests, field trips, lunch menus, volunteer opportunities and class help, and class parties and events. WELCOME! Spelling Words This weeks spelling words will be: computer, television, pasta, giraffe, knife, sword, notebook, pencil, friend, and write. Please be practicing these words, because there will be a spelling test on Monday, September 22 nd .
This weeks lunch menu will be: Monday: Nachos Thursday: Turkey Sandw. Tuesday: Pizza Friday: Tacos Wednesday: French Toast Sticks All meals come with a fruit cup, salad, and a choice of milk or orange juice. The meals cost $2.50 per day your student purchases. Homework Tests and Quizzes Test and quiz dates will be given to both students, and parents a week before the exam, this will give the students plenty of time to review for their tests. Our first upcoming test will be in spelling. The test will be Monday, September 22 nd . The test will cover the words; computer, television, pasta, giraffe, knife, sword, notebook, pencil, friend, and write.
BACK TO SCHOOL! Homework is to be turned in on the day that it is due, students will always have one week to finish their assigned work. Any assigned work will be posted in the newsletter. Our first upcoming assignments will consists of a paper about the students favorite part of summer, which will be due Friday, September 26 th . Also students will be doing research on their favorite animal along with a drawing and description that will be due Wednesday, September 23 rd . Birthdays in September Katie Smith: September 5 th

Monday Today we are meeting our new classmates and specialty teachers. Tuesday Today we are learning about pets. Wednesday Today we are learning how to write stories. Thursday Today we are going to practice our spelling words. Friday Today we have a special guest from the fire department to tell us about fire safety.

Upcoming Events Back to School Bash Saturday, September 13, 7:30 P.M. Trip to the Zoo Friday, September 26, all day school event School Assembly This week's school assembly is on learning about the new school years expectation both of students and teachers. Students will also have a chance to meet their principal. Doughnuts and orange juice will be provided for students after the assembly.

Special thanks are due the following students: This area of the newsletter will be for those students who I have noticed have gone above and beyond in the classroom, either with their school work or showing respect to their peers or other members of the school. This week in Science we will be studying animals, including dinosaurs and pets that you may have. Children will be required to complete science report on their favorite animal next Wednesday morning. After the assignments are turned in, we will be taking a class field trip to the local zoo to learn more about animals and their environments. We will also work on our writing skills, and will start on writing a paper about what we did this summer, which will be due next Friday.
