Vanilla

Vanilla is a simple garter stitch hat,
made in the softest bulky-weight
yarn imaginable. Vanilla uses exactly
one skein of Rowan All Seasons Chunky
(photographed in Pebble/601)
and is the perfect lightweight
slouchy hat for every season.
materials
- 1 skein Rowan All Seasons Chunky
- US 11 (8 mm) 16 circular needle
- US 13 (9 mm) 16 circular needle
- set of US 13 (9 mm) DPNs
- stitch marker
- tapestry needle
directions
1. With US 11 (8 mm) circular needle and long-tail
method, cast on 48 stitches. Join in the round and
PM, making sure not to twist stitches.
2. Work in k2, p2 rib for 1.5 inches. Change to
US 13 (9 mm) circular needle.
3. k to end of round.
4. p to end of round.
Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until hat measures 8 inches
from cast on edge, ending with a purl round.

5. [k6, k2tog] to end of round.
6. p to end of round.
7. [k5, k2tog] to end of round.
8. p to end of round.
9. [k4, k2tog] to end of round.
10. p to end of round.
11. [k3, k2tog] to end of round.
12. p to end of round.
13. [k2tog] to end of round.
Break off yarn. Thread tail through remaining stitches.
Secure, weave in ends and fasten off.
