Introduction.

We visited the college of telecom and
information in Riyadh on Monday
10/03/2014 to see how they are working
and how the system goes especially about
the partnerships and external contacts.

We met the vice dean Mr. Mohammed Al-
harbi and he spoke about the college in
general and about, departments, programs,
students, corporation partners and other
information about the college.
Our group was responsible of partners and external contacts between the college
and the companies that whom cooperate with it.
Mr. Mohammed spoke about the history of the college and how the college of
telecom and information became a part of TVTC?. In addition, Mr. Mohammed
spoke about the mains and the majors in the college, which are:
Telecom technology.
Computer
o Applications.
o Networking.
o Administrating systems.
Special technology
o For the students with special needs (deaf and blind).
The college provides the latest technologies for the trainees by cooperating with
CISCO and train the trainees with a plan consist of four levels in order to qualify

the trainees to be technicians. The curriculum is focusing on the practical side and
supporting the background of the knowledge for the trainees.
In addition, the college provides tests for certificates in VUE Pearson by
supervising from CISCO, Oracle and other companies in management, telecom,
statistics and other fields.

The vision of the college of telecom and information in Riyadh is
To have a leading role in the field of technical and vocational training.

The message of the college of telecom and information in Riyadh is
Developing, providing and licensing the technical and vocational training
programs for the young citizens in terms of good quality and efficiency that meet
the needs of the labor market as well as building an effective partnership with the
business sectors.

Partner and external contacts

Part.1

What does the partnerships mean?
The partnerships mean the cooperation between the Technical and Vocational
Training Corporation (Telecommunication College) and companies for example
Cisco company and other company, Cisco company specifically cooperated with
Telecommunication College before 8 years ago or more, The goals of the
partnerships are to qualify Saudi workers and high qualify outcome.


How the college choose the partners?
The Telecommunication College chooses the partners when are there any
companies want to make cooperate between them and the college, so the
telecommunication College is accepting with any companies, also the college
looks at how the companies will give benefits for the industrial and for the
students.

How long the contract between the companies and the college?
The time of the contract between the companies and the college is unlimited,
that is mean if the college wants to finish the contract between it and the
companies can do that, also in other side if the companies want to finish the
contract between them and the college can do that.

The opinion:
In my opinion the contracts in the Telecommunication College with some
companies are very benefit for the students and for the college, because the Cisco
(for example) gives the Telecommunication and information College the
more modern and newest technology of devices that the college needs it for
their students or the college.

Are there companies that cooperate with the college?
In the past, it was a cooperation between the college of telecom & information
and the following companies (PHILLEPS, ERICSSON and STC). However, right now
the college of telecom and information has two cooperation with CISCO and
MICROSOFT. In addition, in future they are planning to cooperate with RED HAT
Company.

Who decide what content and curriculum should be taught in the
college?
About Cisco, Cisco is responsible for the curriculum and the content. They add
what they need to qualify the student to fit with their needs in the companies.
The college is responsible for supervising on the curriculum. The goal of this the
curriculum is to teach the students with the modern technology in the labor
market.

Opinion:
In my opinion, the cooperation between the companies and the college of
telecom & information is very useful for students in the college of telecom &
information and also for companies, because in curriculum, the companies are
responsible about the content and they add what they need to qualify the
students to fit with their needs in the companies. In addition, the students are
learning with the modern technologies in the labor market.

Part.3
How many students got benefit from the cooperation between the
college and partners, so far?
All student got benefit, but in the past the students got benefit more than
nowadays, because they were make sure the students are have job, so no one
study and wait until he graduate to look for a job .

What is happening for the students after graduation?
In the past before 1419 the college was guaranty the job for student with
different companies, but nowadays the college doesnt guaranty any job for any
students ,so the old days is better than nowadays , because in the past they
prepare you to your work .

Who decide what content and curriculum should be taught in the
institute?
The responsible for the curriculum is the partners. They told us the partners in the
past they bring free labs and free equipment for the colleges. Nowadays the
college is the responsible for the labs and equipment, the partners are the
responsible for the curriculum and supervising.

The opinion:
In my opinion the college well equip, we saw allot of perfect labs that have
Router, switches, computers, cables and devices for teaching. Also they have
many spaces for new labs (modern one) , and the college ready to have any new
partners and that's good for the student to learn the newest technology to be
ready to the market. The college grows up and that's helps student to have good
knowledge and experiences


Conclusion
In conclusion, we noticed that the labs and classes are well equipped which
makes the college a suitable place to study this kind of fields and technologies.
Also for the trainers, they can improve their skills and knowledge with the latest
technologies, which can be very effective on their students.
The visit of the college of telecom and information in Riyadh was very exciting and
interesting, because we saw many new things and new experience. Although it
was only one bad thing, because when we visited the college, it was on the
thirteenth week, which means this is the end of the second semester and there
are no trainees and no classes.

My opinion:
The college is working very well, they have cooperation with companies whom
have an excellent reputation. This is helpful for the student to get a good
education and after that getting a job. When the college provides the latest
technologies to the students, which will help them to fit and to be good with the
real world easily. The labor market needs trainees in these fields, so the college is
going on the right way.
