Course Objectives:
The objectives of this course are for students to:
Identify, describe, and analyze functional relationships between two variables.
Compare and order positive and negative rational numbers.
Classify regular and irregular geometric figures including triangles and quadrilaterals according to
their sides and angles.
Develop and apply the formulas for perimeter and area of triangles and quadrilaterals to solve
problems.
Compare, translate, and interpret between displays and data.

Required Materials:
Pencils (No Mechanical) 2 pencils sharper come prepared to class every day with two.
2 Red Pens or Red Pencils for grading and correcting homework and quizzes.
1 package of graph paper
One package of college-ruled loose leaf paper
Headphones (please make sure students leave them in my class or come to class every day with them)

Attendance Policy and Classroom Expectations:
Show up, be on time and participate.
Ten or more excused and unexcused absences will result in a No Credit (NC) for this class.
Three tardies will equal one absence.
All students are expected to be respectful to all individuals in the classroom at all times.
There is to be absolutely no gum, food or drinks in the classroom.
Students are to come to class prepared with all materials including the textbook, binder, paper, pens,
and assignments.
Failure to turn in missed work will result in a zero.
Any assignment or project will be checked every Friday.
Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism and cheating will not be allowed in this classroom! Zeros will be
given for plagiarism and cheating, parents will be called, and further disciplinary actions may be
taken. Plagiarism and cheating includes copying another students work.

Note; While there is no late work and late tests in my class I expect work given that week to be put in
their folders, otherwise it will result in a zero in Power School until it is turned in.

Bell Work 30%

Exams/tests are worth 50% of the students overall grade. Exams are given at the end of each classroom unit
as a tool to assess the students overall comprehension of the unit. Benchmark tests are given three times per
year to assess a students academic progress and are included in the semester grade(s). A student may take a
quiz as many times as they want to within a semester to prove what they know. There will be a total of 17
quizzes during the semester.

Projects are worth 20% of the students overall grade. Projects may be assigned as individual or group work.
When working in groups, each individual will receive a grade based on his/her performance. The majority of
the project for the whole year will be watching Khan academy, note taking and a major project at the end of
each semester.

Daily Work/Presentations/Bell Work are worth 30% of the students overall grade. Daily Work is the work
performed by the students each day in class including participation; however, if a student is unable to
complete his/her assignment, it can be taken home as homework. If a student does not do well on their daily
work than they may re-do it using lunch or after-school time.

Student Progress:
Progress reports for students are prepared four times each year, midway of each 9-weeks grading
period. Parents must come on site to pick up and sign for them on the day they are issued. Students
are not allowed back in class until the progress report is picked up.

Students who are not making adequate progress must attend tutoring after school and during half-
Saturday school. Those who do not attend will placed disciplinary action. Attendance to tutoring is
not an option. Grades will be given for attending tutoring sessions.
