EVERYDAY MATHEMATICS
Everyday Mathematics is a comprehensive
Pre-K through 6th grade mathematics
curriculum developed by the University of
Chicago School Mathematics Project and
published by McGraw-Hill Education. It is
currently being used by about 4.3 million
students in over 220,000 classrooms.
The Home Learning program serves to
reinforce concepts covered that day whilst
the Student Reference Book enables a
Flipped Classroom approach where the
student can carry out independent research
and come to Math lessons with their own
knowledge and understanding.

What we believe:

The benefits of an inquiry-based
approach to teaching and learning
have been well documented over
several decades of educational
research. Those who promote
inquiry often describe the ease
with which it allows for the
integration of the curriculum. As
students move through the
process of inquiry, they can draw
on several ways of investigating
and expressing their growing
understandings integrating skills
and content from multiple
disciplines or learning areas.

OUR ESSENTIAL
AGREEMENT
Is based upon the learner profiles we have already
covered in class.

Students have formulated the classroom agreement
with the teachers as a group. All of the students will
sign this agreement and will be responsible for following
it throughout the school year. The agreement will be
posted in the classroom.

The students will be asked to write an apology letter if
they forget to follow any of the agreements. We believe
this is a fair and principled way to have the students feel
responsible for their own behavior and actions.
Class Agreement
1. Be an inquirer and share ideas.
2. Be open minded at all times.
3. Be caring to everyone.
4. Be principled, honest and fair. We can follow the
rules even when nobody is watching.
5. Be courageous in our learning and in our lives, try
new things.

Final Notes and Information


* Students need healthy Lunch/snacks /no nuts please. We have also implemented
a no sharing food policy as several individuals have allergies.
* UOI letters were sent as hard copies for this unit but will be posted on the Weebly
website for the remaining 5 UOIs. We are trying to set a good example to save the
planet.
* Please email or send a note to contact us about your child not using the bus
service.
*Photograph permission

*Hopes and Dreams forms
* Daily timings; Registration at 7:45. End of school day at 2:50.
*ASA pick up prompt at 3:45 from the ASA venue. If late then collect child from
cafeteria.
* Hats will be beneficial once the weather cools as we can take the students for
recess on the football field.
