COMPONENTS EXPLANATION/DETAILS LEARNING EXPERIENCES (provide the number) Unit Orientation The teacher will begin the unit by introducing life in Ancient Greece and getting the students motivated about learning the Gods and Goddesss of Ancient Greece by introducing the way people in Ancient Greece lived during that time. 2
Building knowledge of the field The teacher will be able to teach the everyday aspect in Ancient Greece as well as how important the Gods and Goddesss were during this time by introducing the students to different types of texts, videos and pictures. 6
Utilising the non-fiction focus text Kennett, D. and Blacklock, D. (2001). Olympia (1 st ed.) New York: Walker & Co The focus text will be introduced in the 5 th
lesson and will be focused on when the class focuses on the Olympic Games and how they were formed 4
Responding to texts This is planned by making the students respond to sequences and historical events as well as developing their learning on how to have a range of sources available to their services 15
Exploring texts This is planned through letting students research in their own time as well as during class and there will be books provided in the classroom

Text structure and organisation The students will be able to learn how texts are structured by creating their own and reading stories about Ancient Greece 5 Expressing and developing ideas Students will be creating posters and writing down reflections throughout the unit to express what they have learnt and how their learning has developed throughout the unit. 4 Visual and multimodal features of texts The students will have access to many multimodal features such as YouTube, websites, pictures and stories that can be read on the internet 8 2 COMPONENTS EXPLANATION/DETAILS LEARNING EXPERIENCES (provide the number)
Extending beyond the focus text including: This was planned making sure that the strands of Creative Texts in the English strand and Historical Knowledge in the history strand of the Australian Curriculum 6 Creating texts utilising print and multimodal texts The students will be able to create their own texts by creating an information report on Ancient Greece 3
Assessment Formative (one strategy and instrument) A strategy that will be included in the formative assessment is that students will be able to be creative in expressing their learning of Ancient Greece. 1 Summative (one strategy and instrument) Students will need to provide an information report on what they have learnt about Ancient Greece and more importantly, the Olympic Games. 3
Significant demonstration of learning. The expectations will be that students have developed a clear understanding of Ancient Greece and the Olympics. 18
